The Home Stretch (25 games left)

We have 14 games left with the O's and Twins. 6 games with Tampa where at the minimum (barring a complete meltdown) they will have clinched the division for at least 3 of those games maybe all 6.

Man... that could be 20 games against teams with no reason to win a game. Otherwise, including tonight... that is 5 games against the Yankees to account for. The Yankees play the Red Sox 3 more times as well. Boston has 6 remaining against Baltimore but also play the Mariners and White Sox 6 times combined within the next week as those teams continue to play meaningful games. The Yankees schedule isn't terribly difficult either though if you remove a set with the Mets, the aforementioned Red Sox series and then that series here in Toronto.

Boston gets WSH and NYY gets TB (who will have definitely clinched) as we play Baltimore in 3 game sets to close the year. It may literally come down to who can beat up on a bad or situationally non-competitive team the most to end the season.

This really paints a picture of how pretty we could have been sitting at the moment if we played better on that west coast trip and a couple series since. Let's definitely not even talk about what happened pre ASB.

Guys, fortune is definitely on our side. Whatever you do... cheer for Tampa. Whatever happens over the next month... we control our WC destiny a bit more than I think we realize. Fairly ironic that while we cheer for Tampa... We are hoping like heck to win a one game playoff to get them in the ALDS.

Send some good vibes to your Toronto Blue Jays!

heh when you're clapping hard after a sac fly or fist pumping after the opposing teams 3/4 hitter pops out into foul territory, you know the games matter and at least they do in this here month. pretty close to the same record on the same date as the 2016 team, but we'll have to be a lot better than that squad down the stretch for the right to torture ourselves in that coinflip game.

We were going to need something a bit improbable to get back into the race, and good news: we got it, with that 9-1 record including 5 straight over OAK/NYY.

We're still not favourites to make the playoffs, but we certainly have a legitimate shot at this point.

Well, no reason other than to fulfill the cosmic imperative of buttsnaking our playoff hopes

The other part of this is that while we have closed the gap on the field, the field has come back to us. The magic number was thought to be 92 wins. Given how poorly the Yankees and the Red Sox have played and their remaining schedules. I don’t think it’s going to take that number anymore. Which is good because it’s likely that we’re going to have some kind of letdown after this winning streak ends. as long as it’s not Yankeesque…

I BELIEVE.

even after that miserable August where all hope was lost, we're somehow 1.5 games back, and ahead of the Mariners and A's. somehow. are the jays a team of destiny? definitely enjoying these stretch of games, even if we don't make it.

That series against Yankees at the end of the season is going to be crucial for both teams

if i were the jays, i would simply sweep the rays here. and then sweep the twins. and then head into the trop next week 4 back of the division. am i getting ahead of myself? oh, yes absolutely. am i a typical fickle fan that nearly wrote this team off 3 weeks ago? yes, yes and yes! let's go!
