The Joe West led umpire crew was hellbent on ending Polo’s streak.

So amidst all the complaints of Montoyo this, Montoyo that, these final games come down to whether the Jays will hit or not. That is their calling card. A great team can transcend a mediocre coach. They went on a huge streak because of it. They need to recapture some of the offense. guerrero and gurriel can't do it alone.

Boston and NY have been much more consistent throughout the season. In contrast, the Jays are streakier.

Charlie has been suspended for a game after Borucki hit Kiermaier.

Many Blue Jay fans would prefer Montoyo be suspended for longer than 1 game. This is a blessing in disguise. Hope MLB would have suspended him for a lot longer than just 1 game, during this critical stretch of games.

i don't know, even 10 games would be pretty lenient by manfred standards. hate to say it but this should have netted him a 30-gamer (including playoffs), give or take. what borucki did was utterly reprehensible and charlie oughta face the consequences for making that call. disgusting.

Glad to read that the Jake Lamb experiment is over, and he got DFA.

True, that is logical but we have seen core players like: Springer, Semien, Bichette, Guerrero, Gurriel, Hernandez and often Kirk playing almost everyday. That is 6-7 out of 9 in the lineup. That is a lineup based on talent alone that should be able to do some damage when they are hitting. Even without Kirk who is struggling right now anyways.

It is easy to lose sight of what we have when Montoyo subtracts one or two at most of that core. It is time to score runs. Plain and simple.

The good news is that the bullpen has been better in recent weeks, now that it consists more or less of major league pitchers, and not unemployed rodeo clowns and low-budget movie extras. An ERA of 3.73 over the past month isn't spectacular, but it isn't the disaster it was previous (we're actually 6th in Win Probability Added from the 'pen over the past month).

Setting up Ray to pitch every 5 days may have just messed with all the other starters.

Sucking at the wrong time. Man this team can't catch a break.
