Long-time Jays poster The_Hater has passed away from cancer

This really, really sucks to post. Hater has been an institution on the Jays and Raptors board for two decades. He didn't suffer fools -- a very understandable position, given that there have been a lot of fools to suffer over the past 20 years -- but was consistently one of the most insightful posters on the boards, and a really lovely guy to boot.

I don't think most of us knew he had been sick for some time, so this news comes as a shock. A sad goodbye to one of the best posters we've ever had on here.

He’ll be greatly missed and in this forum in particular where baseball isn’t my strongest sport of knowledge so i always felt his posts clarified things to me whenever i was unsure about certain stats or obscure baseball rules

Just learned the news from the Raptors board, and came right here. When I think of The_Hater, I think Blue Jays and all his great contributions to this board over the years. He will be missed.

Man this was so sad to read. He was such a huge part of our tight knit community here. Also a huge part of the Raps board. I always enjoyed reading his well-worded takes. Gonna really miss him. Rest in peace.

So sad to have read this in the Raptors Board. It was always great interacting with him for the past several years on this forum. Lost my cousin and uncle to this terrible disease years ago, when they were both young, at 40 and 38 years old respectively. It still hurts. My deepest condolences to his entire family. May God bless his soul.

His passing seems surreal. Hater was one of the best posters here and an even better person in real life.

Passing from cancer at 54 is way too young. Life's not fair sometimes.
