A large contingent of fans on the Jays subreddit wants Berrios in there instead of Stripling, lol.

Wilner is literally tweeting that right now. It was also a story on Sportsnet last week.

Unless the team is run by total morons, he can't start a Bo3 playoff game. He's been horrible this season. I wouldn't even put him on the roster.

"Berrios will turn it around any day now. Just because he has the highest ERA among all qualified starters after a full season doesn't mean anything".

Berrios is fixable, but he sure as hell isn't getting fixed this season. And the playoffs aren't where you fix a pitcher's mechanics.

Berrios should be parked on the bench in the post-season. He can wave the towel, and cheer on the team sitting besides Kikuchi. Mike Shillner is out to lunch, saying Berrios should start in one of the 3 Game Series. It has to be Manoah, Gausman, and Stripling as your 3 guys you go with.

Oh my god, this is so incredibly painful.

Honestly, now is the time to put Kikuchi in. Let him pitch the rest of the game and save our bullpen for the rest of the series.

Pretty sure they've saving Kikuchi for tomorrow's bullpen game. Yeah, we're in the dark times.

Anyone know if we're losing or not. Because I usually not watch games when we play in hell. (The Rays home). I predicted a sweep but hope we can get 1 and maybe that 1 could be tonight?

I am doubtful the game would end if we let him pitch.

Os win. They're not done yet.

Berrios you suck! You couldn't even give us 3 innings. 2 innings pitched. 6 ER and 7 hits. Brutal...

I don't want to see him pitch in any playoff games. He can sit on the bench and cheer his teammates on.

Atkins worst signing by far. How much are we paying this guy again and for how long? SMFH..

Lol I exchanged some tweets with Wilner earlier this year when he kept parading that "if you ignore his bad starts his ERA is actually good". Like yeah too bad he still gets paid for those awful blow ups. He's fixable and willing to bet on this being a down year. But his underlying metrics paint a even worst picture than his already horrible regular numbers. Anyone who thinks Striing doesn't get 1/3 games is out to lunch. Berrios should he long relief in the playoffs and that's it.

What happened to Berrios, man i hope he can get it sorted for next year, we signed the dude for 7 years at 131 million, it's not like we can waive or have his contract as albatross like Yusei Kikuchi

I'd presume that our playoff staff will be:

Gausman, Manoah, Stripling, White (as a swingman).
Berrios, Phelps, Richards, Mayza, Garcia, Pop, Bass, Cimber, Romano.

With Berrios effectively being used as a sacrificial lamb in a blowout and for no other reason.

The one thing we could use is another lefty, but I can't see Kikuchi or Griffin getting rostered. There is a crazy idea that I've been mulling -- calling Tiedemann up as a reliever, a la David Price years ago -- given that I doubt we'll ever have to worry about him exhausting his option years, but that seems unlikely given how cautious the Jays were with his innings (plus the bit where he only recently turned 20).

$131M/7yrs for Berrios to suck for 7 years. It's looking pretty much a bad contract since they traded the 2 prospects for him...

I’d think you have to make room for Big Nate in the playoff pitching roster (though I don’t know the 40 man implications of that). He’s struck out 8 and allowed only one hit over five innings in Buffalo. My long shot bet might be exchanging either Richards or Phelps and White for Pearson and Griffin. I don’t really see a point in carrying both Berrios and White

As for the two prospects traded for Berrios, Martin is rapidly approaching Jordan Groshans non prospect level and SWR is by no means a can’t miss. I have more faith in Berrios track record (though probably not this year) than SWR becoming anything more than a fifth starter.

You can thank management for that.
