Imagine if Springer didnt hit that feeble comebacker to the pitcher. We'd be in the middle of a monster inning right now.

If Springer is not 100%, he should not be playing plain and simple. He has not been this bad at the plate since his Rookie Year 9 years ago.

Such a **** call in a huge spot. Can MLB finally institute robot umpires in 2024?

I hate that that's the sort of pitch that you kinda need to swing at, even when it's clearly off the plate.

Maybe we'll be able to bring back Chapman after all. He's nowhere near the guy he used to be defensively.

this looks a lot like the last game of the seattle series and that was the first game of a 5 game slump

The game we had a 4 run lead in the 7th inning and Schneider decided to use Anthony Bass inexplicably over Erik Swanson? We'll be very lucky to be in that kind of position the way this team is playing today.

Not really. He has zero walks here, Acuna got on base from a terrible error by Chapman, and the Albies HR would be an easy flyout in just about every park in the majors (including RC last year).

Another terrible call by this guy in another big spot in the game. Buck needs to stop making excuses for him.

I mean, he's still better than Nathan Lukes who we're rostering for some reason.

All right, I probably wouldn't allow Kikuchi to go three times through the order here against a team full of LHP mashers.

That pathetic AB by Springer really coming back to bite us. Could of had a big 6-8 run inning there if not for that 1,2,3 double play.

Or Springer not running off the bat with 2 outs costing them a run, or Chapman being unable to field a groundball to 3rd, or the Jays being unable to execute a rundown. Hard to win when you make this many fundamental mistakes.

What I am witnessing is a typical Kikuchi start in the second half of last year. 8 hits, 5 runs (4 earned) in 3.1 Innings so far. Granted, the Umpire has been awful, but not a very good outing from Kikuchi today.

A typical Kikuchi start from last year is where he had no command at all and was walking everyone in the ballpark. He's not doing that today (7 K, 0 BB, 4 IP). He's getting hit by the best LHP hitting team in the majors.
It would be accurate to say he hasn't pitched well, but it is not accurate to say he is looking like his old self.
