Vlad, Bo’s defence is still atrocious.

Bo's defence absolutely infuriates me but at this point in time right now, off what we've seen from both guys. Bo without hesitation for me

I think it's gotta be Vlad, especially if we're pricing that extension based on how he's been playing for the last season and a half, and not how he was playing in 2021. Treat it as a 'buy-low' extension.
I think with a long term extension, Vlad is going to be able to relax, calm down, and focus, rather than trying to swing wildly every at bat.

FTFY. lol
actually dude only has 4 errors this season, on track for "12" for the season, half of last year and the year before. i have to say he's improved.
I'm actually surprised he's had *only* 4 errors.

Vlad, but depends on the price.

I don't care if Bo is the best hitter in baseball. Before I would pay him, he would need to be playing 2b.
If we are looking to win, you need both. Also, you will get different answers to this question and different times of the year. Bo is on fire and Vladdy is looking to find himself.

Literally every answer above you is either a different person, a different reasoning, or both.
What on earth are you even on about?

Not sure why I can only extend one. I'm extending both.

Bo's offense has improved every year, while Vladdy took a step back in 2022, and seems to have taken another step back in 2023 (so far).
Despite his defense, Bo probably edges out Vladdy right now

You extend both. Jays will have a lot of money coming off the books the next couple of years. They will have the resources to sign both.

At this point you gotta go with Bo.
Vladdy will probably want a 9-10 year deal in the 350 million range. Some team will pay that, I hope it's not the Jays.

Right now, judging by the talent in the farm system to replace either one, I'd probably say Vlad. We do have a wealth of prospects on the left side of the infield. And Bo might have more trade value right now. Maybe the re-awakening Orelvis Martinez replaces him, which wouldn't improve the D but might, after a couple of seasons, give us a similar bat. Or, we could give up some offence and go with Leo Jimenez, who is leading off at NH, has a major league glove, and is developing his O. Both are good enough to have prompted the team to pit them on the 40 man roster already. You can look further down in the system at Kasavich carrying a .300 average at Vancouver, or Beltre at Dunedin. We actually have no obvious internal replacement for Vlad, not a big bat anyway, and he's already making $14m this season. Right now, we'd likely have to find a replacement for him via trade or free agency. Strictly on a monetary basis, replacing Bo would likely result in a significant saving that could be reallocated to other needs, whereas replacing Vlad wouldn't.

Vlad is higher risk, higher reward.
He could win the triple crown or be absolutely average.
Bo has been an All Star caliber hitter every year pretty much.
I know what i'm getting with Bo, I have no clue what Vlad will do going forwards.
Vlad is either an MVP or an Albatross contract.
Bo is at least an All Star with slim potential to be a MVP player.

Vladdy for me, gold glover, hits tanks, could be a triple crown type of player and playing 1B it takes less of a toll on your body

Vlad really hasn't taken a step back. He's been telling us who he is since his rookie year and people refuse to believe it. He's a bat-only player who relies on pitchers not being able to locate their pitches because when they can he just pounders high velocity balls into the dirt every time. He crushes the minors with worse control and had a massive outlier season in 2021 when pitchers had different balls they'd get from supply chain issues and couldn't always reliably locate pitchers the way they wanted but otherwise he's basically been the same guy, only getting increasingly frustrated as he keeps trying and failing to do what worked in the minors.
That said, it depends on the price but I see Vlad as eminently replaceable at this point. Rowdy wound up in the same overall talent tier as him.
