That one bad strike call set Merrifield up for failure. No way he swings at that outside ball if the count was 1–0. Every single ball/strike call affects everything else.
Is anybody here a marine biologist?

What a stupid comment by Joe Siddal.

The Mets would prefer a Kirk on 2nd compared to KK on 1st? You could still throw Kirk out at 2nd?? When you try to cover for your first stupid comment, don’t make it worse with a second one.

Don't care about Gurriel whatsoever as part of that trade and never will. Even if he somehow maintains this offensive level for his one season in Arizona (he won't and the numbers are already falling), it will have almost no bearing on the success of it. Varsho and Moreno's performance over the next 5+ years will.

Why wouldn't Bassitt start the 8th inning? He's only at 93 pitches. We're dying to get our mediocre bullpen into a 1 run game or something?
