Lmao Mitch White making us waste Swanson with a 7-2 lead in the 9th is justification for demotion.

Just DFA him. I know it sucked that this organization traded Nick Frasso for him, but he cannot be trusted in any situation even with a 5 run lead.

As it stands he doesn't pitch in anything even approaching medium leverage...a five-run ninth-inning lead is the most-important situation he's faced to date (it's the first time he has entered with the team leading by fewer than 10 runs), and even then he got lifted before the game was actually on the line. He'll get shunted into the minors when we pick up a reliever or two at the deadline, but we're clearly avoiding situations where he can really harm anything anyway.

Does Ryu rejoin us as a reliever?

Assuming the health (and Manoah's ability to throw strikes) of our other starters holds up I suspect there's more likelihood of Ryu being our 5th starter and Kikuchi getting moved to the 'pen. But that presumes that Ryu returns at a reasonably high level which is no guarantee.

Great sweep in spite of that inning.

I think they're quite adamant about keeping Ryu in the starting lineup, although "talk is cheap"

I wonder if we could jettison White off the roster with a phantom injury or into the DFA void at that point

Good sweep, despite Mitch White's best effort to *** it up.

It makes sense, given that Kikuchi's stuff should theoretically play up in a relief role (though it didn't last year), while Ryu's a much more accomplished starter overall. Just depends on whether he can physically handle that role, because he is a giant, lovable orb and there isn't a part of his body that hasn't met the surgeon's scalpel.

With the limited off-days in the coming weeks, and the amount of innings the Starters have pitched this year up to date like Gausman, I think it makes sense to even use a 6 man rotation at times when Ryu is back and healthy to give an extra rest day to the Starters.

That's definitely also a possibility, especially if we establish enough of a buffer in the WC that we can afford fewer Gausman starts (once healthy again).

Even moreso if we get to see Chad Green in the bullpen.

Let’s see Manoah pitch at least one more competent game before we assure him a rotation spot for the rest of the year.
