Toronto Evolved Dinosaurs (53-41) vs San Diego Monks (44-50) July 18-20

Post#1 » by Parataxis » Mon Jul 17, 2023 6:24 pm

After sweeping the former leaders of the AL West (and knocking them down to third place), the Jays welcome the 4th place AL West team.

Looks like they're using Monday's off-day to keep everybody on normal rest, and give Gausman some more time to recover - definitely not ideal

Will this be a trap series? Will the Jays stick to the plan and take care of business against a team that they should dominate?

LETS FIND OUT!

(As an aside, I will be out of town this coming week, so win or lose, somebody else is going to need to make the next series thread)

Don't look now but we are 5.5 games back of Tampa! I just wish the orange birds would start losing.

Don't want to look too ahead but if we get HOT through this tough stretch till late August - SD, SEA, LA, ANA, BAL there's a part in our schedule that goes - Washington, Colorado, Oakland, KC where we theoretically can go 12 - 0, 10-2 depending how well the Jays are playing. So fingers crossed we keep playing like we did this weekend
Pretty neat and on the fridge for the real fans:

Granted Manoah got robbed on that low strike but he still looks like trash out there. He is completely incapable of finishing batters off and is mislocating half his pitches. Might as well be throwing batting practice out there. Cant believe Schneider thought that one okayish start against the worst team in Baseball meant Manoah is "back". Just...lol.

Manoah struggling after one decent start in AA and one decent start against a AAA Tigers team where he was hanging sliders all game? Who could have seen it coming?

At least Ryu will be back next week.

Schneider just does what he's told. Manoah being back up here despite being the same bad pitcher is completely on management.

Yeah Soto homerun aside he can't locate anything and is gonna touch 40 pitches already. Machado got out on a 93 middle-middle fastball. And half his pitches aren't breaking where he wants them. Might be a wash of a year for him.

They might have wanted to give him time in the minors to fix his actual issues instead of whatever they chose to do with him. Hurts the team (by throwing games away and hurting the bullpen for future games) and hurts him.

There was no reason to rush Manoah back after one decent start in the minors. In his first start, he was roughed up by 18-19 year old kids. This is completely on Management. You are lucky to get Manoah to complete 3 Innings, after throwing 40 pitches in the First.
