Some people disagreed with me above, which is fine, but I would DFA him and then bring him back in 10 days (or earlier if Bichette breaks down or other injury). I still see a possible role for Davis Schneider against LH starters, and I see literally no role for DeJong with a healthy Bichette. Unless the plan is to rest Bichette a few games a week for the rest of August, which in case there is a role for DeJong.

I actually think there might be a bigger role for Nathan Lukes than Paul DeJong at this point.

I tend to agree the Jays will demote Schneider though.

I would probably do the same as I do think this team needs Schneider's bat on the roster, but I don't expect it to happen.

That's a situation where Vlad should have let that popup drop on purpose and thrown to 2nd.

So what's the story on Chapman -- maybe I missed it on the broadcast earlier.
Should he back by Friday?

He dropped a weight on his finger and nobody knows.

DeJong even taking away stolen bases now from his teammates in his terrible ABs.

This Phillies lineup is super deep and giving Gausman all kinds of problems. Speaks to what Kikuchi did yesterday.

I attended Dejong's first game as a Jay. Fans were applauding him when he came to the Batter's box for the first time. Some fans were even given him a Standing Ovation (lol). That has been the highlight for DeJong as a Jay. I knew he was a terrible hitter for 3 years. Never expected him to be a worse hitter than Bradley Zimmer.

Espinal's brutal 2 run error costs us the lead and probably the game. This would be another reason you probably have to keep DeJong on the roster. You can't trust Espinal to play defense at any position, let alone shortstop.

More pertinent:

Why is Chapman sitting? Because of a sore thumb? Are we in a wildcard race?

Time to use your best players. What are we waiting for?

He's injured. Nathan Lukes pinch hit over him last night.

The Jays’ lack of execution will be the basis of their execution.
