Our MVP gets the go-ahead run in partially through his elite baserunning. As you'd expect.

Richards is really killing the trade value he had built as a really solid utility pitcher.

Who would you propose? The bullpen is a complete disgrace and he's one of the few with even above average numbers

The real question, if you care about winning games still, is why the starter was pulled after 4 innings of this one.

Pearson is awful and far worse than Richards this season. Green is their closer and they still had 4 outs to get because the manager inexplicably pulled their starter after only 12 of them.

I was being sarcastic. Defense can only do so much

in high leverage situations pearson is no different than richards, but lately richards has been worse. in 47 innings he has 1 win and 3 bs/losses.
his era would be much higher if it included inherited runners.

Richards is 2nd on the team in WAR among RPs this year (and 1st among healthy RPs) and 3rd in ERA (and 2nd among healthy RPs). When your entire bullpen sucks, this is what you get.

We need to get someone with magic shoes and a magic arm out there so they can cover the entire outfield area, I think. That might have saved them.

Meh, they have one of these every few days. Pretty soon they'll be losing by some wider margins after the rentals go though.

I'm not sure what you wanted him to do better in that play? He caught the ball in fair territory ready to throw to home, and made a decent throw. It was too deep to have a real shot at it.

I wonder if they'll ask Schneider why he felt compelled to pull his starter (who was doing well) after 4 innings for 5 innings of one of the worst bullpens in baseball. That assumes any Jays reporter is even following this team in person anymore.

Corbin Carroll is one of the fastest players in the league and leads the league in baserunning runs. Nobody in baseball had any shot there.

Hence the need for magic shoes/arm.
