Phillies take game 1 in dominating fashion 8-0.

It's all good though, we have Bowden Francis coming back from game 2. The 566 people who decided to stream him as their SP today in Yahoo Fantasy Baseball have to know something right?

That being said would be a nice time for Francis to figure something out. But I have my doubts, last start against the Phillies was the embarrassing one inning start. I still don't know why they didn't skip his start for one turn, let him pitch one or two games in long relief, and then come back with him next week especially against a team different than the Phils.

If Francis has his typical awful start, hopefully it is the last time we see him in the rotation going forward. He has an Option left, so back to Buffalo would be the most logical move.

Instead of playing Max Scherzer at AAA last night, why didn't activate him, and let him pitch today, being a 2-4 inning opener for a Bowden.

400 foot fly ball out to start.... better than a HR I guess.

Jays are just gifting this game by starting this guy against the Phillies still. He has absolutely nothing to get anyone out.

Started off well and then just lost it with 2 outs in the 4th. Can't find the stirke zone at all now.

Inspiring stuff here.

He has no business being in the majors at all. Perhaps the Jays should come to that realization already.

Can they not have gone to the bullpen after 2 walks and HBP happened in succession

It’s clear Francis was melting down

If you insist on starting him at this point, have a tight leash

Weak decision making

I don't think you can get a bullpen guy ready that quickly (by the third guy to reach base). You can't have a guy warming up after just one walk.

That being said after the 4th batter to reach base a move could have been done, but that was the earliest possible I could possibly see.

Best catching duo in MLB year to date.

Jays really using their top bullpen guys early in this game -- Little and Rodriguez... I don't hate it as you want to keep the game close, but we are going to be seeing stuff like Green at the end.

Perhaps they should have used Green yesterday in a 5-0 deficit over Fluharty and Fisher who have been tremendous for them, yeah. That's the kind of decision that ends up losing you games later.

Green enters in the biggest spot of the game rather than Fluharty (who likely isn't available because they used him in a 5-0 game). I wonder how it will work out.

A HR to lose the game. Man, who could have seen it coming

Actual contenders don't start Bowden Francis and use Chad Green in the 8th inning of a tie game against the Phillies. They got what they deserved.

What a mistake not to trade Chad Green last year before the deadline when he was pitching the way he was, and teams were interested in him despite his 10.5 million salary this year. It was all a mirage last year in the first half, and he was bound to implode again. He is not the same Chad Green that was pitching for the Yankees many years ago.

Chad Green is not a guy who should be pitching in the 8th Inning unless the game is a blowout. If this organization is serious, they would DFA both Green and Swanson when Sandlin and Garcia come back. Bowden Francis should not be in the rotation going forward also. Buffalo is where he belongs right now.
