Make the offer. Bassitt will reject. Take the compensatory pick, and let Bassitt sign elsewhere. Wish him all the best wherever he pitches next year.

Remember last year when our offence was so **** that we would play Spencer Horwitz at second base. Yikes.

33 pitches after 2 innings is an OK number for us. (Pacing to 99 after 6)
Need Skenes out before the start of the seventh.

I'm not 100% convinced he would turn it down which is why I ask the question. He is 37 at the start of next season.
Remember the contract that a Pivetta got last year about 4/54, and he was much younger (31)
What does Bassitt get -- 2/28 or 2/30 seem realistic. I can't see him getting much more. Is that better than 1/21?

I still offer it though, and if he accepts then he is our 4th/5th starter innings eater.

He might not turn it down but a 1 year deal at that rate for him is fine
