It almost did today..I mean I firmly believe we can outscore anyone in the league. Can our offense produce enough to overcome our thin rotation?

The lineup is seriously SCARY

If Thomas can be a consistent HR hitter and that Rios can develop in a great 5 tools player well I think we're into something good

Wells, Glaus and Overbay will do what they have to IMO

And about the rotation...well yeah it's pretty average except for Doc and maybe Burnett...we'll see

I seriously think that our pitching really isnt that bad. If Chacin Ohka and Towers can come out with decent starts.. I think our Frasor Ryan Janssen's can really hold us up in the 7-9 innings. I think our pen could be surprisingly strong this season. Wishful thinking but still...

I don't think pitching will be a problem as we get deeper into the season, if our rotation and bullpen can stay healthy and start locating the ball.


The big problem as we saw today was walks, which killed us. In 2 games we've allowed 10 walks, which is just unacceptable for a contending team.


We averaged 4.99 runs/game last year, by comparison the Yanks averaged 5.74 runs/game. So we only averaged .75 runs/game less than the best offensive team. If we could bump our average runs a game up by 1 or 2 runs which I think we can do it should be enough to win a lot more games this year.

We really need to increase our OBP as a team, which will enable us to score more runs.

But that's a big IF right there...I trust Chacin but Ohka and Towers are unpredictable

I sure hope they can pitch some solid games...and with the offense they have to back them up, I think they'll be fine

I understand that it's a big IF, but Towers has showed this spring that he seems to be back in form and Chacin elbow problem's seem to have worked itself out.

So I'm hoping we will see the return to 2005 form for both of them, and if so then we'll have at least a solid 4 man rotation. If Ohka continues to pitch like he did in spring then we'll have a solid 5 man rotation.


I hope Brandon League is able to find his fastball in the minor's it's so disappointing to see a pitcher who can throw in the high 90's only throwing in the low 80's, he would have made an ideal set-up or 7th inning guy.

I think our offence just erupted yesterday in the late innings, and I don't think we have seen everything yet. Our offense is scary good but our pitching is not that bad

Good grief, we're talking about one game.

When it all shakes down in the end, our pitching will prove to be better than you're anticipating and our offense will prove to be worse than you're anticipating. I expect us to finish above average in with ERA and above average in runs scored but neither of them are steller.

Not when we give up 10 runs a game... but another flaw is our lineup is dominated by right handers... and although most can hit right handed pitchers fairly decent it does make it more of a challenge to get around...
