Casey as a Starter? Or keep him in the pen?

This guy looked great near the end of last season and this year he is absolutely destroying everyone he faces. Great control, and looks like he can be an awesome starter for us. SO I ask...

How long before Chacin, Ohka, or Towers messes up and we need someone to step in? First nod will probably go to Zambrano if any of these guys mess up. If Victor cant handle it, they will for sure bring in Casey to be our 5th starter.

I mean, I do love this guy coming out of the bullpen, and he really puts everything into every pitch, now knowing he is only in there for tops a couple innings.

Since day one I have said Casey will be great, and it is beginning to look like it. It will take a bit of time, but I say eventually Casey will end up in the starting rotation.

I think time we will see him at least spot start

Keep him in the pen for now. If one of the present starters falters, either he or Zambrano will get a starting opportunity. I would tend to let Casey continue to have success in his current role unless it becomes obvious that he is needed more in the rotation. Eventually, he will become a starter IMO.

Why mess with a good thing? We NEED him in the pen right now. Also it's still to early to pull the plug on any of the starters. Until Chasin, Okha, and/or Towers give reason to yank them from the roation you have to keep things the way they are.

Who knows maybe Jansen is more effective in a 1-3 inning type situation vs. being a starter and having to battle fatigue and guys seeing him 2-4X in the same game

Like Tabler was talking about on the broadcast the other day

When Casey comes from the pen he can go all out right away - when he was starting he had troubles with pacing himself.

I love him as our #1 option in middle to long relief.

**** no. Keep him in the pen. He can be good if we get an injury to a pitcher and need a guy to gobble up 4-5 innings.

Keep him in the 'pen, he might be the 5th starter next season though.

There are options in AAA if we need another starter.
