Yeah, that is pretty stupid. I think most people on these boards would have Lind in the lineup instead of Stairs. Too bad one of us aint the manager.

Cat leaving got us the 16th pick (plus a supplemental pick) in a pretty good draft. I liked the guy, but give me a Top 20 pick and a Top 50 pick and a chance at two very good players to shore up a sub par farm system any day.

BTW: Lind is supposed to start tomorrow and bat 2nd, he should get the majority of the starts with Johnson out.

Lind has MUCH more power than Cat.

I'm excited to see what Lind will do with his opportunity.

Yea he'll be a nice left-handed bat to add in the line-up, but we can't stress enough how much Reeds absence will affect the team.

First off, we now have Rios leading off who is not only not a lead-off hitter, but now his power is wasted. Johnson gives us excellent D and a good bat and although Adam could give us the good bat, his defence is suspect (not that Stairs isn't a dope out there) . Hopefully it won't be a long-term injury and he'll be back soon.

Lind is the complete opposite of what the Jays need though, this team has enough power hitters already.(some would say too much power)


He'll be a good player someday, but he's not in Reed's league right now.

The Jays need contact hitters who hit for average and can maintain a high on base percentage, which is what Johnson is and what Cat was.

Guys like Hill, Overbay, Johnson and Clayton are going to be the key to the jays scoring tons of runs this year. Without these guys on base all you get is solo homers and you can't put enough of them up everyday to consistently win you games.

Lind is better than Johnson. Reed had a great season last year, but it's more likely than not it was an aberration; he's much better suited to fourth-outfielderdom.
As harsh as it sounds, this is good for the team. It forces Gibbons to play Lind now rather than waiting a few months and probably getting sub-par production from Johnson in the meantime. Of course, this theory hinges on Gibbons not playing Stairs, which is a distinct possibility if Adam struggles even a little bit.

while i agree in the end it may be best reed be a 4th outfielder, i think he deserves atleast a season to prove whether or not he can deal with everyday duties and produce. I think we're still better off with Reed playing everyday this year, and he's a decent leadoff or number 2. But please, give Lind all of Stairs' minutes

I agree. But this looks like 2005 when Hill got called up and was basically handed a starters job for 3 months. Will be a much better guage than a week here, and a September call-up there.

B.J., Glaus and now Johnson? Damn, any more bad news?

This is a great opportunity for Lind to show what he can do in the big leagues. Let's hope he can make the most out of it!
