Ricciardi, who made the comments to the Fan 590 after Toronto's 15-13 loss to the Indians on Thursday night, said it wasn't a back injury that initially sidelined the pitcher in Florida, the Globe and Mail reported Saturday.

"It was his elbow that was bothering him," Ricciardi said during the interview. "So we said it was his back, so we could have a bit more time."

The integrity of the organization has took a beating over the past couple of seasons. From the Hillenbrand situation to the Lilly/Gibbons debacle to Riccardi calling out Meche to this.

All you can do is shake your head in disgust.

I do not like Gibbons or J.P. and I can not wait until we get rid of them.

I say what makes the difference if he wasn't forthcoming with the injury. Is it any different then the Leafs saying "Upper body" or "Lower body" injury?

The reaon for this is likely that JP was trying to trade for a reliever during ST so letting out the true nature of Ryan's injury would have driven up the price. In the end, no reliever was available so the truth came out. I am not being a J P apologist( I am sitting on the fence where he is concerned at the moement) but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the way he handled this issue.

Didn't both JP and Gibby get extensions just last year?

Just great...

So now you are down on JP too?

Gibby did lead the Jays to second place finish in the East. It is all about regular season wins.

Who cares about things like strategy and dust ups with the media and players right?

JP saying it's ok to lie because "We know the truth" is on the same scale as Babcock saying that we don't expect to win this year. It's something you know is true, but you NEVER say it out loud.

Why should we trust what JP says for now on, look at BJ now. They said he didn't need Tommy John Surgery. Low and behold, he got it and is out for the season... maybe next year too.

The problem with JP's lie is there was no reason for it. This is not a contact sport where someone might go after BJ's elbow. JO simply lied out of arrogance.....and to sell tickets. Not cool.

And as much as I like BJ, we need to prepare for the worst, and find another closer.
