Jeremy Accardo, Blue Jays (20 innings, 21 strikeouts, a 0.00 ERA)

Everybody knows that $47 million closer B.J. Ryan is on the shelf with an elbow injury. Few people realize how effective the Toronto bullpen has been in his absence.
Accardo, acquired from San Francisco last July in a trade for the disgruntled Shea Hillenbrand, is getting ahead of hitters with a mid-90s fastball and putting them away with his splitter. And he's received plenty of help from set-up men Casey Janssen and Scott Downs. They've helped Toronto's bullpen post a 3.40 ERA, third best in the American League behind Boston and Seattle.

We probably don't talk up the job they've been doing enough... though it's not easy with all the losing we've been doing of late.

I do believe our pitching hasn't been too bad. It's our hitting which has hurt us.

talking about lack of hitting and unhyped hero, Reed Johnson is really underrated. I miss his bat and hustle.

With Reed back, we can adjust the 1-9 spots and get going. We have our Ace back and the 2-4 spots are pitching lights out right now. 3.40 ERA for the bullpen is sick-good numbers.

We need to make up the distance on the Wildcard spot, which will get us half-way to Boston, ideally by just after the All-Star break then see what happens in s sprint to finish the seconf half.

we need to go on a serious run, that is for sure.

lind, since the beginning of the season, hasn't done too much to impress. i think getting reed back, hopefully at full strength, will definetly help a whole lot.
