Not too surprised with this move. Thigpen can play C, 1B and 2B if need be. A very athletic player, who is considered one of Toronto's top minor leaguers.

I'm excited that they called him up, but I sincerely hope it's not to replace Overbay at first base. There's no doubt he could handle the position defensively, but taking him out from behind the plate evaporates almost all of his significant value with the bat. He'll get on base, but he doesn't have nearly enough power for the position.

Ed Sprague, Carlos Delgado. Josh Phelps...Curtis Thigpen? We keep moving great catcher prospects to other positions and then struggle to find a great catcher. this team has had a platoon solution behind the plate since forever. Ernie Whit was about the last fulltime catcher and I that wasn't too long after we got a team in this town.
