What a show! Its horrible that some bottom of the lineup guy knocks a single in the 9th, but either way, incredible game!

Chacin when he returns. If we can stay healthy the staff we have can power us to a big playoff push, but more than anything else, the rest of this season sets Marcum and McGowan up for great full seasons next year and for a change we may not have huge question marks through the staff come spring training!

Im not ready to praise McGowan as an incredible success just yet but its looking better and better! (minus last start which was the worst ive ever seen)

Great performance for Dustin. Will do wonders for my fantasy team this week. The kids (Marcum and McGowan) have been playing great and really help round out our rotation. If Chacin can stay healthy and consistent (which I don't think he can), that will be a nice addition. We need at least one lefty in there.

Wow not to rain on the parade because it was a great game Dustin had today, but anyone ready to proclaim the jays rotation of "Halladay, Burnett, Marcum, Mcgowan and Chacin" as great has lost there marbles.

Chacin is terriable. I have given up on him. Only because his delivery isn't fooling anyone, his stuff is far from overwhelming, and he can't locate a pitch to save his life. The control can come around in time, which is why there's a faint hope for a 5th starter possibly, but he must develop his repitoire. 88 MPH fastballs right down broadway because your behind in the count don't fool anyone. His changeup is his only quality pitch. Honestly, Chacin is best as a Scott Downs kinda player. Spot starter but mostly longer pen relief and situational lefties IMO.

McGowan and Marcum have been outstanding, no question. I'm just simply not ready to assume there position in the rotation and there continued success. I hope the latter happens, but they are still young and have a ways to go in really establishing themselves. There by no means a finished product.

AJ is an established version of McGowan as Dustin is right now. Lights out stuff. 60/40 whether or not he's got it. I would say Dustin is more 50/50 though. AJ IMO is a descent #2, and an excellent 3

Doc is the Doc, no arguments there.

IF Marcum and McGowan continue to develop they would be a much needed boost to the rotation. But we just can't hang our hats on them already. We've seen many outstanding pitching performances for short periods of time, and then seen guys fall of the map.

But here's to there continued success

I agree that it's too early to start planning any parade routes.

Nevertheless, it's hard to not get a little excited about all the promise that Marcum and McGowan are showing. If AJ can come back and remain at the level he was pitching before injury and if McGowan can limit his bad innings AND if Chacin can come back and hold down the 4/5 spot... (one more) AND if League can regain his form before the end of the year (which I doubt).........

We (maybe) could (just maybe) make a push (though it's a long shot) for the wildcard. (Oh crap, I said it... there goes all hope.)

damn, that was an awesome performance. it wouldve been insane for his confidence and morale if he actually got the no-no.

Resurrecting the thread a bit...

I loved every second of watching that game. I was up in the 500 deck with my buddy having a beer and watching McGowan completely destroy his competition most of the game. That fastball was great.

His curveball looked like crap all game as it usually does and he bounced it on the turf a couple of times but he had the fastball going particularly well, was working the slider and changeup... he looked nice.

McGowan is a very promising pitcher.

We need to never, ever mention Chacin again; he has no control, his velocity isn't great and he just blows in general. He can occasionally look like a major leaguer, that's about it.
