The following teams are better than us:
Red Sox, Yankees, Tigers, Indians, Angels, might be on par with the Twins and A's if we are playing our best ball.

not with this bullpen (and rotation).. Yes, I know our bullpen has nice numbers so far, but it's extremely unproven. I mean honestly, is there anyone in that 'pen who intimidates anyone? NO!

The Jays, when healthy are a top 6 team. They'd still need a 2-4 starter, and a SS (who's nearly the whole package ala Tejada/Rollins etc) to really contend.
As it stands
The Angels/Red Sox/Tigers/Indians and the Yanks (when healthy) are better than us. Also, with the amount of times AJ goes down with arm soreness (I call it Tommy John Phobia), you never know how long he'll last.
I say, if the Jays open up the vault a little more and bring in a pitcher like Rich Harden (who can be had) or Mark Buehrle (who looks liek he's getting an exctension. If not, I guess they'll be okay with Doc/AJ/Dusty/Marcum/Towers or Chacin.....it's a decent rotation, but really inexperienced IMO.
In September for the callups, I'd callup Sergio Santos and Russ Adams, move Hill to SS for some games with Adams, move back to 2B for Santos. Santos has alot of power for a SS, but needs work defensively....as does Adams. I'm just a little tired of these has beens being short term gap fillers at SS. Ever since Alex Gonzalez left, this team has been without a decent SS for some time.

The Jays are incredible when everyone is on board, but with the consistent injuries that are a part of the baseball season (although weve had a bitchload this year!) we have been basically knocked out of contention already. The rotation is looking good, and our slow starting batters are starting to come around, but too little too late id think

Stranger things have happened, but I'm guessing they finish around where they did last year (85-87 wins). That's not good enough.
This team is a short-stop, #3 starter, and a LF away from being legit competition for the Red Sox. The development of McGowan is huge. Someone like Shaun Marcum is not going to maintain an ERA in the 3.00's, but McGowan has a chance to be that type of pitcher. If he develops, that's a cheap power arm with front-end upside under the Jays control for five years. He could change the whole dynamic of the team's needs moving forward.
This season has made me a little more optimistic about 2008, but it's likely too late to do anything significant in 2007. Although those who are optimistic, at this point if I were you, I'd be looking at Boston moreso than the Wild Card. Both are pipe dreams, but I'd rather be 8 games back of 1 team than 6 games back of 5 teams.

I'm more concerned with either the Cleve or Detriot. The wild card winner is coming out of the central, not the west.
