Just read of the Score ticker the Toronto will host the 2008 all-star game. According to the wiretap, it's been awarded to the Yankee's. What's the deal here? :-?

Thread title edited for clarity. - STJ

Hmm..... it's probably changed since then, because right now, i see "to make a strong push to land either the 2010 or 2012 all-star game"

Thanks for clarifying. I skipped a heart beat when I read the original ticker.

dam, i hope they get the ASG, that'd be sweet.... but it doesn't really add up though, since the last one was in 1991, and in 2012, that's only 21 years after.. a few teams definitely will be missing out between this time

Well small market teams that don't wish to spend all that money may not really care about missing out on an all-star game. Also teams like that might not have much of an audience so it just wouldn't be worth it.

I think it is very likely they get an all star game! Lets hope!

At this day in age, who would want to hold an All-Star game in a dome/bowl style stadium.

Honestly.

I agree, Rogers Centre would be the ugliest ASG ever. Flipping channels and watching road games or other teams play, I am actually jealous of the great stadiums their teams play in. Camden, PNC, Yankee Stadium, Shea, AT&T Park, Jacobs Field....

+1

I feel this way every single time. It looks very "kiddie" on television.. I wonder if the players feel the same way? I would wager that some do, and the type of surface doesn't exactly help either.

Yes, ASG at rogers center would be ugly

lol probably, i've never been there.. but the whole atmosphere/experience is probably a lot better than Rogers Center (which isn't saying much anyway lol)
