Hes on a 2 year deal, and is most likely retiring after this deal. Why not trade him for some prospects. He came to win, winning is not happening this year, and maybe not next.

Thomas has a 3rd year option on his contract. Right now it's a team option. However, if he accumulates at least 1050 plate appearances in 2007 and 2008 combined, the option becomes guaranteed at $10 million for 2009.

In other words, he's unmovable.

This does not make any sense.

unless he gets injured or we decided to bench him more LOL

I would much rather hold on to Frank than Troy. He just had a rough start to the season, but once he gets going, he is capable of doing good damage.
He's not only hitting for power these days, but he's been getting clutch singles and doubles which is a good sign.

I would be happy with just giving frank and his oversized contract away. I think getting anything of value for him is pretty much out of the question. The reason the Jays were able to sign him to that deal is because no other GM would. I don't see anyone taking that contract now that he has underachieved this season, let alone give something up to get him.

Texas was offering him similar money, but not as much up front.

There's no way any team takes him unless we devour a lot of his salary. Not worth it.

Besides, I still think Frank's numbers will be there at the end of the year.

He'll get his numbers.... when the team is out of any race....

It's all good though, a stiff DH got his 25 HR and hit .250....

I'm not saying I'm completely happy with what he's done, but I think Wells' bat has been FAR more of a problem.

And no matter how you cut it, Frank is leading the team in RBI.

Frank has been quite impressive lately.

I think some people expected too much from him but at the end of the day he's pretty much just a 30 and 100 guy in this stage of his career.
