Good game....but for some reason this team scored 4 plus runs, they always do it in one inning. The last three victories came this way. Vernon Wells needs to wake up and smell the coffee

^^ agreed
if the orioles had taken over the lead
the jays wouldn't have came back

they lack consistency

It kind of feels like they reach a certain number of runs and say "hey i think that's enough for tonight".

Good to see Frank show some power for a change though.

Nice job by AJ again, but i think he should have been taken out right after the 6th cos he got to 100 pitches. With the way his arm is I wouldn't leave him in for too long at this stage of the season.

aj needs to learn to pitch in
he always wants to strike out guys
thus him throwing more than he needs to
which leads to injury

Yeah, what is with Gibbons and his constant overusage of Burnett's arm? Why he constantly roles the dice and forgets that Burnett is injury prone just doesn't make sense. I mean, overusage is supposedly what lead to Burnett's recent injury in the first place.

Trachsel is a cagy veteran. I wouldn't be surprised if the Jays sturggled big time against him tonight.

Gibbons going with something a little different today :-?

1. Reed Johnson, LF
2. Russ Adams, 3B
3. Alexis Rios, CF
4. Frank Thomas, DH
5. Matt Stairs, RF
6. Lyle Overbay, 1B
7. Aaron Hill, 2B
8. Gregg Zaun, C
9. John McDonald, SS

Jesse Litsch (4-5, 3.54 ERA) hopes his second career start against the Orioles goes as well as the first. The rookie right-hander made his major league debut at home versus Baltimore on May 15, giving up one run and four hits while coming within one out of a complete game in a 2-1 victory. He became the first Blue Jay to win his debut as a starter since Gustavo Chacin beat the New York Yankees on Sept. 20, 2004.

Litsch wasn't helped by his defense in a 6-2 loss at Kansas City on Monday, as he allowed five runs -- two earned -- in 6 2-3 innings.

Baltimore's Steve Trachsel (5-7, 4.85) hopes to record his first win in more than two months. The veteran right-hander is 0-3 with a 6.55 ERA in nine starts since beating Colorado on June 8, and hasn't won on the road since May 28.

Trachsel has pitched better in his last three outings, allowing five earned runs in 18 innings. He gave up three runs and a season-high 10 hits Sunday in Baltimore's 6-3 win over Boston.

Trachsel, who pitched for Toronto in the 2000 season, is 5-0 with a 2.98 ERA in six career starts against his former team.

Oh Canada.....

Well...this should be interesting today. The Jays are trying to load up with left handed batters. Trachsel has really struggled this year against righties, with a 6.38 ERA and a .316 Opponents Batting AVG. It's too bad I'll probably listen to the game because I don't get the game.....I wanna see how Adams will do at third....he made a ton of errors....like 3 or something in 6 games at third.

Probably will see Vernon later in the game.

Is it a good thing when your $17mill/yr CF makes you want to throw up because he can't get it done in the bottom of the 7th, 2 on, 2 out, coming on as a pinch hitter when the team is down two runs?

It doesn't seem like a good thing.

How sad it is that Trachsel is 6-0 against us now. We had Trachsel here, there is no way he should be 6-0 against anybody. :noway:

Here's a Ricciardi trade that DIDN'T happen I am annoyed at.

Here sits Rios, cheap, improving, talented, not Vlad Guererro without the reach and an all-star. He can play center. You have a guy who's market value is at an all-time high but would prefer to play in Texas.

You need a shortstop and they need an outfielder. The Dodgers have TWO talented outfielders and a great young pitcher to sell--but Ricciardi ante's up the big bucks for the wrong one--and thus is forced to overpay the hitting to compensate for the coming pitching.

Hitting doesn't work out, and now pitching is solved.

God help us. My thing on Vernon is that he's gonna have to be our next lead-off hitter. He;s gonna have to use speed and cheesy chopper basehits to a high onbase percentage. A healthy Overbay gets him to third or home, and then Rios comes up to finish the job,

There was a Wells for Penny + Broxton and some other prospect rumour too. I would have taken that and ran.

I dont think Broxton was ever rumoured in any Wells deal. Im almost positive it was a Wells for Penny/Kemp rumour that was floating around for long parts of the summer (which is still a good trade).
