Nice win tonight. Didn't have any problems with the game aside from the rough start.
The offense works nicely whenever they are looking to drive the ball. They seem to hit to the gaps with ease so I don't see why they don't try it more often instead of going for HR all the time.

Yep nice win, and another great performance by Litsch tonight.
First time that the Jays score more than 4 runs in a game in their last 14 on the road...that's crazy!

I'd love to believe it could continue, but it's mainly that Ervin Santana may be the worst pitcher in MLB. I've never seen a hurler that pitches that weakly right over the middle of the plate as he does.
He does have nice movement on his slider...but man, strike one is a gimme for Toronto's mistake hitter laden lineup.
They almost hit 3 homeruns in the inning I watched (only a deep double by Vernon and a single actually scored any runs--Stairs and Hill stung their balls towards the outfield.). Of course, they only started getting successful when they hit the gaps (an astute observation by Rkid).
I swear Gibbons should make these guys run laps when they uppercut the ball (except for frank, he might expire).

Why do they make every pitcher they face look like a cy young winner?

caught the ending of the game. Nice work by the offense tonight, and marcum was solid again after a shaky start.
Really like the way Frank is swinging the bat lately.

Nice job hitting for extra bases today, its surprising how schizophrenic this offense is on a day-to-day basis. Oh well

Alex Rios is looking like a first half power source, and now he's looking like the weak kid in gym class trying to do a chin up. He's been hitting for average, but like in years past, his power has escaped him come the second half. Is he training properly?
UTM....I feel you too. This offence is so weird. One day they hit like madmen, the next it's like pulling teeth for them to even advance the runners. If this team takes the approach they had tonight, they'll win a ton more games IMO.

Escobar should shut us down today. But that shouldnt be the case because he should be our number two pitcher behind Halladay.

Well, it's not like pitching is our weakness...

I swaer if this offence averaged 4 runs a game, the pitchers would all have at least 10 wins right now. I hate it when this stagnant inconsistant offence doesn't support their pitcher. McGowan had another solid 7 IP with only 2 ER, and he gets crapped on again by the offence.
Why do we even have Zaun? The guy can't even throw straight, 1/20 times he'll come up with an RBI hit and worst of all, Gibbons trots his sorry ass out there 6/7 nights. Get this worthless sack of garbage outta here....trying to keep it PG 13. He had three chances to drive in a run and either popped out or struck out...there as also either 2 or 1 out...making Johnny Mac responsible to come up with the clutch hits...which we can't expect all the time.

It's weird how he has become a completely different hitter since last season. In the past he would have long at bats, and in clutch situations was pretty good. This year he swings at the first pitch a lot and either pops up or strikes out like you mentioned.
Why not just plop Thigpen in for the rest of the season. There is nothing on the line now so might as well give the young guy some burn. I wonder how much of that has to do with Gibbons being afraid that Zaun might start stirring up crap if he doesn't get playing time. Isn't Zaun supposed to have a not-so-ideal attitude in the club house, or is that just a rumor?
I guess one positive in regards to Zaun is that Barajas is doing total crap this year. Lucky we don't have him either.

I, too, am wondering what the heck they are doing with Thigpen rotting on the bench? I thought the whole point to bringing him up before September was to get him some playing time and break him in in preperation for next season. Yet, they still trot out Zaun and his .230 BA 6 out of every 7 games.

Mainly, for two reasons:
1.) Thigpen is patient, cbut can't hit either.
2.) The pitchers don't particularly like how he calls the game (I've seen them shake Thigpen off quite a few times recently.
True, he could throw more runners out, but Zaun is the best we've got offensively(sadly), and thus Ricciardi/Gibbons is forced to play him more often. He was complaining today that he had to work out of the eight hole, and that he'd prefer the two hole on the bluejays web site today. He said it forced him to hit out of character (be more agressive) to try to swing more than he wanted to. I just wish he'd stop worrying where he was and just try to have good at bats.

Thats a load of crap excuse if I ever heard one: I'm not hitting .300 because I am batting 8th not 2nd. Please. Just hit the darn ball and shut up. If A-Rod doesnt complain about hitting 8th, Zaun shouldnt complain.

Well if Thigpen is the future catcher, him and the pitchers will have to get accustomed to so that is no excuse.
Zaun flat out sucks, he's like a notch above Phillips and thats not very good at all.
