Jays Vs Red Sox's

Post#1 » by arrpy » Mon Sep 17, 2007 1:37 am

Lets see if they can get their act together against Boston!

Game 1:

Wakefield
16-10, 4.68

Scouting Report:
Red Sox: Wakefield opened the year by going 26 consecutive starts with a decision, only to follow that with a no-decision in two consecutive starts. In both cases, he was fortunate not to get a loss. After missing one start with back woes, Wakefield has been hit hard, giving up 13 runs and 19 hits over 6 2/3 innings. Wakefield is 3-1 with a 2.77 ERA in four starts against the Blue Jays this season.

Vs

McGowan
10-9, 4.01

Scouting Report:
Blue Jays: McGowan had his winning streak snapped at two games in his last outing against the Yankees. The 25-year-old allowed four runs on three hits while walking three batters over five innings of work. It was McGowan's shortest outing since Aug. 21 and the most runs he's given up in a start since July 14. He's now 2-2 with a 3.21 ERA over his last four starts. McGowan is 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA in three career games against the Red Sox.

Jays Win 6-1

Lester
4-0, 4.86

Scouting Report:
Red Sox: Tampa Bay jumped on Lester early on Wednesday. The 23-year-old left-hander yielded four first-inning runs, two on a B.J. Upton opposite-field home run, and he left before he could complete the fourth inning, having thrown 93 pitches. The way the calendar plays out, Lester will have two more starts after Tuesday before the regular season ends.

Vs

Burnett
8-7, 3.42

Scouting Report:
Blue Jays: Burnett continued his strong showing since returning from a right shoulder injury on Aug. 12, tossing eight innings of one-run baseball in his last start, against the Yankees. The 30-year-old allowed just four hits while striking out eight on 120 pitches. Since coming off the DL, Burnett has gone 3-1 with a 1.78 ERA. He's struck out 46 batters, over 50 2/3 innings, and all of his seven outings have been quality starts. Burnett is 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA in three career outings against Boston.

Jays win 4-3

Buchholz
3-0, 1.50

Scouting Report:
Red Sox: The top prospect finally gets to have an encore start following his no-hitter, which came on Sept. 1 against the Orioles. Because the Red Sox are being careful with Buchholz's innings, he's only pitched once since the no-no, a relief appearance (three scoreless innings) good enough to earn a win against the Orioles on Sept. 6. This will be Buchholz's third Major League start and first on the road.

Vs

Litsch
5-9, 4.37

Scouting Report:
Blue Jays: Between July 3 and Aug. 28, Litsch posted a 2.48 ERA over 10 starts. But he's gone 0-3 with a 10.37 ERA in his past three trips to the mound, and he's only picked up one victory over his last eight turns. After Litsch's latest outing, Gibbons didn't rule out possibly giving a start to rookie Josh Banks down the stretch. On Friday night, Litsch took the loss against the Orioles after yielding four runs on seven hits in just three innings - his shortest outing since May 30. Litsch is 1-1 with a 7.20 ERA in two starts against the Red Sox this year.

Lets see if we can get the Sweep!

Haha, we do suck, but we are not the worst. Just remember, there are worse teams than us.

McGowan is the future ace of this team and going to be one of the better pitchers in the AL

Wow, go Frank go. 2 HR on knuckleballs is very impressive. Almost as impressive as McGowan.

Frank Thomas padding the stats. A great way to mask the true nature of his season.

Exactly. It gives him a fighting chance of 30HR, but you wouldnt know he hit that much by watching the Jays this season.

I don't think you can really pad stats on purpose in baseball compared to other sports.

And in regards to the true nature of his season - he's been one of our best hitters and run producers since the all star break. I wouldn't say his season has been a disappointment.

For $9mil a season at DH, I expect more than someone who has a bit of a chance at 30HR. If last night was only 1 and not 3, he likely would finish off with around 27-28 instead which, I think most would agree, is far less than what we paid for.

1 - its really fun playing spoiler, especially to the Red Sox

2 - Gagne needs to quit

3 - I cant believe Gibbons is back to keeping Burnett out there for 120+ pitches; no matter how good he is throwing, look to next season you moron!!

I was so pumped during the 8th inning today - one of the few times all season I was like that. When Adams made the hit it made my day. :)

Let's hope they can sweep it now.

Btw I heard something like AJ has the lowest ERA in the majors after the all star break. Let's hope he can bring that game next season.

If it was possible to describe a player's career solely on one play, I would conclude that J.D. Drew is one of the worst outfield defenders.......ever.
