Shaun Marcum is 9th in BAA with .246


That's right there is pretty impressive, considering our best pitcher is not one of the leaders. Roy is in top 25 though. Whip though Roy jumps to top 15 because he rarely walks people.

Toronto Blue Jays have combined era of 3.95 which is 3rd and 1.27 WHIP which is 2nd best in the MLB. I find that amazing and kind of sad that with pitching this great we could not win more games. Can we expect this next year? Remember we won't have Towers and other garbage that we had at the start of this year.

It does suck that all of this has come together at the end of the season. But it does give us hope to look forward to next season. I think our rotation at the start of the season was:

Halladay
Burnett
Chacin
Two of either Towers, Ohka, Zambrano or Thomson

Next season it will be possibly:

Halladay
Burnett
McGowan
Marcum
Chacin if he is healthy

If they can maintain or at least come close to what they have done at the end of the season, it will be a great staff. Probably one of the best staffs we have had in a very long time. Now if only our offense could get it together then we might be in business.

You must have meant just AL, because Chris Young has a opponent batting overage of .188

Those two hitting stats right there are the reason why the Jays are so inconsistant this season.

Honestly, at the start of the year, we had a prediction thread and for the most part, most of the predictions were fair.

Who would of thought are best HR hitter would hit 25(probably going to be under 30 at the end of the year.

Thomas 25/91----->I had him pegged for 35HR/105RBI
Rios 24/84--------->I had him pegged for 30HR/100RBI
Glaus 20/62------->I had him pegged for 35HR/100RBI
Wells 16/80-------->I had him pegged for 30HR/100RBI
Overbay 10/49------------>I had him pegged for 20HR/80RBI
Johnson 2/12-------------->I had him pegged for 10HR/50RBI, .280+ AVG

All these stats, quite possibly for our 6/7 best players are all pretty below expected (except A.Hill). Had either the hitters been better or were healthy, this playing out the string would not be happening.

With the way the Jays pitched this year, it makes you wonder why good pitching didn't beat good hitting....as the old adage goes. If the Jays can get comparable numbers outta the SP/RP next year, I'm sure they'll be better....but how much is the question.
