1993, Game 6, @ Skydome, vs. Mitch Williams and the Phillies. Down by 1 in the bottom of the 9th.

Arguably, the single greatest moment in the history of baseball, and it happened in our city, Toronto.

I'm just curious to get a feel for the demographics of Blue Jays fans out there.

I saw it, and to this day, it was my best memory as a sports fan. I was a small kid at the time, staying up past his bedtime, and all I can remember was how amazing the moment was.

As a fan, unless Chris Bosh hits a buzzer beater in Game 7 of the finals, I doubt I will ever experience a moment like that again.

Nope. But I remember that I was 9, up past my bedtime, and when it happened I started doing laps around the inside of my house.

I wasn't very old when that happened, never seen it. Sounds like it would be crazy tho!

I saw it live with my family. Greatest moment as a baseball fan for me. After going to bed early during the 15-14 game, I vowed that I was not going to miss another game in that series.

I remember watching it live. I was 11 at the time and baseball was the first sport i got into so I watched pretty much every game of the playoffs from start to end.

Those days my whole family was into the Jays so we all used to watch around the tv together. I remember that night my brother was cursing the Jays bullpen all night, and i told him to be quiet cos the game wasn't over. Then they got some guys aboard in the 9th, and then came the big hit by Joe.

I remember almost getting teary eyed when it happened, and i couldn't really believe what i saw. Everyone in the building, and neighborhood seemed to be going crazy too. People banging on their balconies, and shouting on the street.

Was just a fun night.

I think i was equally happy when they won their first world series because that was the first time. I don't remember that series much though.

My dad said, and I quote, "he always swings for the fences, sometimes it's better to manufacture runs".

The next pitch came and went and it was all over.

That was Crazy! Only if I watched that live, I would of went nuts! Deffenitly the greatest play for Blue Jays fans.

I think there's some confusion in the thread. When you ask if we saw it "live", are you asking if we were one of the 50,000 inside the SkyDome that night? I doubt there's more than 2 people here.

As for where I was. I was a teen in highschool. I watched at home and immediately got in the car and headed downtown. Best downtown party I've ever been part of. Everyone hugging and highfiving everyone else. Absolute joy. Since '93, Torontonians have wanted something to cheer about in the same way. All these silly hockey tournaments have tried, but frankly, have failed. Olympics, Canada Cups. Leafs winning a 2nd round series. Fans go crazy. But it's not the same as '92 and '93.

I dont know why its hard to believe that out of 50,000 plus at that game, you might find 10 of them that visit this forum.

I was watching it on TV, and it was definitely a surreal moment.

I remember it like it was yesterday, I was like 9 years old. I was really getting tired as the game went on and I wanted to fall asleep so bad. I remember the phillies going up and thinkin maybe I should go to sleep, but I didn't man was I glad I didn't. As soon as the ball left the bat I wasn't tired anymore

I was actually offered tickets to game 6. Problem was, the girl that offered them too me said that she could 'get tickets for either game 6 or game 7, which do you prefer?' I quickly told her game 7 because nothing's better than game 7 of the WS.... augh......

Good grief... I don't think I could properly emphasize how big the "L" should be in "L-o-s-e-r!" Tough break..

If I properly recall, the Leafs were also a game away from the Stanley cup finals that year too.

I remember watching the game with my family. My dad and my uncle were actually there and I waited for them to come back but they didn't come home that night (go figure) The next day at school they were giving away Blue Jays hats and merchandise. Cause we actually had family there that piece of history will last with us for a lifetime.

I watched it on TV. I'm not a Jays fan, but it was still a Toronto team in the World Series so I was interested as a kid.

My parents best friends were at the game in one of the luxury boxes. I don't know how they were connected, but when they came home the next morning they gave me a program from the game signed by Joe Carter himself. I haven't thought about that for awhile.

I wanted to bump this thread because it was 14 years ago today that he hit the home run.

It's also 14 years ago today that it was the last time we were in the playoffs.

And interestingly enough, with our '93 series opponent Philadelphia making the playoffs this year, the number of teams that haven't made it longer than the Jays has now shrunk to the woeful group of the Brewers, Pirates, Royals and Nationals.

That is sad and depressing to see. I knew we were bad but I did not know we were associating ourselves with those calibers of teams.
