Rumour has it the Marlins are potentially shopping Miggy Cabrera. I presume Glaus will be a injury concern from here on out and is going to start to majorly decline.
what would you give up for Cabrera?
Alex Rios+ Shaun Marcum?
Might not be enough to get him seeing he's a potential MVP candidate every season.

I just don't see it happening, but I do hope JP atleast gives a good offer.

I think he will be back to the outfield very soon unless he can cut down on his weight problems.
I love the guy, but dont think we have the pieces that other teams can offer (Yanks in particular).

Why would he be going to the outfield? Would make more sense to just put him at 1B

1B is another possibility yes. But he has played OF before

Out of curiosity, what is the trade value of Alex Rios. What players can he be compared to in terms of trade value. A rising young star, should be worth quite a lot.

Granted, I would HATE to give up Rios, but it would be completely worth it for Cabrera. Rios is a perennial borderline All-Star, whereas Cabrera is a perennial MVP candidate. Miguel is only 24 years old and already has a ring under his belt. I have absouletly no faith in team management though.
Look at what 30 million will buy you (Wells + Thomas) and A-Rod is a bargain. The Jays have 30 million locked up in Troy "dead weight" Glaus, Frank Thomas and Overbay alone.

The Marlins want cheap, young, talented players. Like guys who are not going to be making mucho dollars in two years like Rios.
Think McGowan, Lind/Snider and Rosario or something like that.

What we should do is see what other teams are offering for Cabrera, and ask for a third of that for Glaus. Well, that's what a good GM would do.

And no other team would deal with you.

As great as Cabrera is, I'd be hesitant to give up 3-4 big time prospects for him. His weight issues really scare me, but I guess you can't argue with his production to date which for a player his age probably puts him on a top 10 all-time curve. Question is, can he keep it up?
