"Yahoo.com - The Athletics on Sunday traded infielder Marco Scutaro to the Blue Jays for a pair of minor league pitchers.
Scutaro batted .260 with seven home runs and 41 RBI in 104 games this past season.
In six seasons with the A's and the Mets, Scutaro has a .259 career batting average with 31 homers and 174 RBI.
In return, Oakland received righthanders Kristian Bell and Graham Godfrey from the Blue Jays"

When I heard a rumour Godfrey was leaving the organization soon, this is not who I was hoping for.

He's decent with a bat for a shortstop, but he's terrible defensively. He's going to start against weaker pitchers, with JMac in late to hold the lead.

A's fan here. I hope you like Scutaro. His penchant for clutch hits (

I was wondering if you had any insights on Kristian Bell and Graham Godfrey. Thanks!

Well, Scutaro is better than McDonald, so at least it's a step up. Scutaro has hit .264-.325-.392 (.717 OPS) against RHP and .257-.337-.387 (.724 OPS) overall the last three years, and he'll be moving to a much better hitter's park, so I'm hopeful he can at least break .700 this season, which is a MASSIVE step up from McDonald.
It doesn't look like the SS position will ever be resolved as long as JP is GM. This will be his 7th season and he still hasn't found a SS better than Alex Gonzalez.

This means Russ Adams is in AAA again this year - I am all for that. Really, every team needs a guy like Scutaro. Its just unfortunate we had a guy like him all ready but even more unfortunately that that guy will be starting for us and has a worse bat.

I hope he's not the answer at SS.

Well, it's like they always say: if you can't fix the problem yourself, trade for Oakland's table scraps.
