How could peopel have the Red Sox not making the post season?
If anything, It's the Yankees that will be left out.

The red sox have some question marks in there rotation in Matsuzaka, Lester and Bucholz. Its not a gurantee that those guys pitch well and if they dont the Yankees could win the division (they have have question marks in there rotation. If Chamberlain and Hughes pitch well that could be a scary team.

The Sox had the same question marks last year, plus they have Colon added this year who has looked good in preseason. Dont sleep on the fat guy, he won a Cy Young a couple years ago.

they didnt have 3 unproven pitchers in there lineup from opening day last season. Matsuzaka could very well be better in 2008 but he could also repeat last year and be nothing really more then a decent pitcher. I think the Yankees will have a good season with the regulars having big seasons (Jeter, Arod, Cano) but also get big performances from Hughes, Chamberlain, Melky Cabrera, Giambi. Giambi will be a big sleeper this year as hes going to be playing alot more first base.

Yes they did. No one expected Beckett to have the year he did. Everyone was unsure of what Schilling could bring to the table. Daisuke was a complete unknown and they were hoping to have Lester back at sometime from his cancer treatment but were unsure of when and how good he would be.

Beckett was a proven pitcher at that point, he had pitched in the majors a few years and showed he was a good pitcher(even though his first season in the AL was not great). Last season opening day they had Schilling, Wakefield and Tavares in there 5 man rotation. Even though both Lester and Bucholz are very good pitchers no one knows how they will pitch next season because they have no track record and for a team that to some is a lock to win the AL east they have some question marks.

This is still baseball folks, a key injury, an off-season here and there and anything can happen. Boston looks like the favourite to me but they're far from unbeatable. Some of their key hitters are aging, Schilling is out, Beckett probably won't repeat his career year and guys like Pap have been injured in the past.

In 2006 the White Sox were coming off 99 wins and a World Sereis and looked even stronger on paper. Instead they missed the playoffs and one season later fell near the bottom of the AL.

Dont count out the guy I almost picked for MVP: Manny Ramirez. Why? He said the team wont be picking up his option next year so its a contract year for him. One last big payday perhaps.
