Hastily constructed Jays/Rays series thread, Apr. 22-24
Hey look, a series thread!
Game 1
Rays win 6-4; W - Shields (2-1), L - Litsch (2-1), SV - Percival (2).
Game 2
Gibbons sits out Alex Rios, because the poor guy has played seven games in a row (or thereabouts), and it gives him an excuse to play one back-up catcher at first, and DH the other...seriously, what the #$@!. Halladay (2-2) battles someone with a career 1.66 WHIP (1-1), which makes me happy.
Line-ups:
D. Eckstein ss ----.256
S. Stewart lf -------.214
A. Hill 2b -----------.305
V. Wells cf ---------.289
M. Stairs rf --------.333
R. Barajas 1b -----.231
G. Zaun c ----------.259
R. Diaz dh ---------.000
J. Inglett 3b -------.321
A. Iwamura 2b ----.215
C. Crawford lf -----.273
B.J. Upton cf -------.316
C. Pena 1b ---------.206
E. Longoria 3b -----.235
E. Hinske rf --------.321
J. Gomes dh -------.279
D. Navarro c -------.462
J. Bartlett ss --------.212

goddam this team sucks so much. I mean so much.
6-7-8-9= Barajas, Zaun, Diaz, Inglett...
That's f'ing terriable.
Even with Rolen back and Rios in the lineup we need a substantial upgrade. 1-0 this game on a stairs solo home run, and outside of solo home runs, or the opposing team walking the bases loaded, followed by a wild pitch or something, we'll never score, it's pathetic.

I had forgotten that Rios sat out last night...I don't see anything articles suggesting that he's injured, but I can't imagine that he is sitting out healthy.
Still, the three-light-hitting-catcher line-up is one of the most remarkable groupings ever constructed; there's a right-hander on the mound, so clearly it makes sense to go with a right-handed catcher at first base, rather than the left-handed guy who normally starts in that spot.

Overbay fouled off a pitch off his shin or foot or something yesterday. Nothing major but I'd imagine it's a little tender today because yes it obviously makes no sense to have a right handed catcher at 1st against a righty. Same kind of deal with rios. I only passively saw the game yesterday but I'd imagine he has some kind of minor issue as well, there's just no way with our offense as anemic as it is, that he'd have 2 days off.

I can't find anything on the web regarding Rios missing the last 2 games. Have they said anything on the telecast? Very weird.

Nurse is below average at best.
Masai is overrated.
I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

Okay, that makes sense. I missed most of the last game owing to some NBA thing, and couldn't find an article stating that Overbay was dead or otherwise inconvenienced such that he couldn't play.

Reed Johnson on the other hand is batting .339 with the Cubs.
Great move JP!
Im officially on the fire JP bandwagon.
Yea RJ has been great in Chicago. Having a terrific season thus far. That was certainly a bad move, atleast early on. Ofcourse, alot of us knew that was going to happen anyways
