We need to stop being in denial, and start re-building this team. This team is destined to be a .500 team for the next 10 years. We need some fresh blood.
The reason I say to trade Doc, not because he's bad, but because he deserves better. This guy is one of the best pitchers of his generation, and he deserves to pitch in a playoff game. Obviously, he's not going to get that chance on this crappy team.
If you are truly a fan of Halladay, for Doc's sake, we should all hope that he gets traded to a legitimate team. He has wasted his career in Toronto.
The only players I would keep are Hill, McGowan and Marcum. We need to try and trade everyone else.

Guys, there's 124 games left. They're only 6.0 games back. hahahahah
Sorry, I can't keep a straight face. Yet, somehow the great defender, Mike Wilner, is keeping a straight face on Mike Hogan's show right now. To quote Wilner, "They're not 10-28. They're 17-21, ONLY four games below .500".
Thanks Mike.

Yeah, I've heard a bit of him and he's one of the ruder homers around. When callers have a legit complaint, sometimes he just cuts them off and brushes their comments off.

you've been on doom and gloom patrol from the first week of the season. Why even bother following the team?
I consider myself a real fan. I want to win. I'd rather there was an expanded playoff system. But MLB is the way it is. You're either a top-tier team (division winner or wild card) or you're playing for nothing.
I had no problem with anything the Jays were doing early on. If JP believed this team could be good, then fine. But we could all see from Spring Training that this team couldn't hit.
Then we got into the season and saw that predictions about our pitching were true, but the hitting still wasn't coming around.
All I want is for the team to take some action. To me, we have playoff pitching this year. This is not a rebuilding year. It made sense to me to get Barry Bonds. Take a chance.
Instead, JP gets rid of Frank Thomas and has no backup plan. Now he's grasping at straws. And now we have a major injury.....something which happens to all teams....and our pathetic offense just got even worse.
I'm a fan who's not willing to accept mediocrity. It's fine during rebuilding years. But with our pitching this year, and with a free agent like Bonds sitting around, we should be making the move.

Not only do I feel sorry for Halladay, but I'm starting to feel bad for the rest of our starting rotation. Can you imagine how disheartening it is to go out there each game, knowing you've only given up less than 2 runs in the entire game and still get the loss? It's a lot of pressure for them too, knowing that they HAVE to keep the opposing team to scoreless innings for the entire game. I think this will eventually catch up to them, and one of the pitchers will speak out soon.

This isn't the time to blow the team up. For one thing, our farm system is so absurdly thin that we have no one to replace the outgoing vets...unless JP pulled off a major coup trading Halladay, the Jays would be in even worse shape than before, as the precipitous drop in attendance and other revenue would cause Rogers to cut back the budget. Because it takes years for draftees to make the bigs and the failure rate is so high, the tank-and-draft strategy is considerably less successful. Also, given the history of our management, the likely target of cuts would be on the development side rather than the major league level, which would be disastrous.
Rather, the best time to rebuild is in two seasons. By then, we should have a better handle on the develop of Snider, Ahrens, Jackson, et al, and a better idea of what the team will need going forward. Plus, Halladay will be in the final year of his deal, Burnett and several other vets will be off or coming off the books, and a new GM will likely hold the reins. Hopefully by 2010 there will be enough depth in the farm system that the Jays will have players ready to take over when the vets depart, allowing the team to re-tool without ending up in the basement for several years.
