http://www.thestar.com/Sports/Baseball/article/443988Blue Jays fireballer A.J. Burnett may have talked his way out of town even before the opt-out clause in his contract takes effect after this season.
Burnett insisted he was simply being honest when quoted in the Chicago Sun-Times yesterday as being receptive to an opportunity to play in a baseball-mad city like Chicago.
"As of right now, I'm a Blue Jay and I'm going to pitch to the best of my ability as long as I'm part of this club," Burnett told the Sun-Times, while admitting he has been hearing trade rumours as well.

Well it seems like a lot of signs are pointing for a move to get rid of him... too bad an "expiring" contract doesn't really exist in baseball, thus would've been an asset.. (even though he still has an option).

We have to get rid of Burnett before the season is over, and I'd be willing to accept anything decent in return. Some team making a run for the playoffs is bound to get desperate for another arm and might actually give up something good for him even if he might just be a rental.

Given JP's stellar history of trades, I'm fairly confident that the two picks we get will end up as better prospects than anyone that we'll get for AJ. Personally I say sit his ass down, bring up Purcey (take our lumps accordingly), and take our picks. If someone wants to ship us Jay Bruce or Justin Upton then laugh all the way to the bank, if not- take the picks.

+1 I agree if we are not getting top level prospects we might as well keep him and let him go in the off season.

isn't Jason Bay being shopped around? maybe we can try to put a package together surrounding Burnett?

It'd have to be a 3-way deal, because the Pirates wouldn't have any interest in his contract.

Id move him for a postional player with potential. He goes before Rios for shore.
