I was looking through lists of MLB-ready prospects that are blocked by superstars or franchise players. This one is a keeper. The Rockies know it too, but they have nowhere to play him, since Helton mans down first.
Koshansky is their number one prospect, but he's 26, and he faltered in twelve at-bats last year at the major league level. I've long been a fan of him (though I foolishly thought he was a third baseman). His glove work is nothing special, apparently, but he can rake. He's the prototypical slugging first baseman, with 30/100 potential. He can hit for average, strikes out a ton, and draws a fair amount of walks. His numbers may be inflated by playing for Colorado Springs, but I tend to think a little more clearly.
The Jays need to rebuild. Not drop everyone, but rebuild on the fly. If Colorado was in the race, I would offer up Burnett to get him. Easily. Being the Rockies, they could always use pitching. We have a surplus of it, especially young and signed cheap.
How about Accardo and a AA prospect?
