So who do you think will represent the Jays at this years ASG?

Our hitting has been crap, so I don't expect any positional players to attend... Wells was injured, Rios has done jack, Rolen didn't play the first month.. I can't see any of them making it..

So as for the pitchers, I'll say Halladay makes it, even though his W-L record isn't exactly very good.. I'd put BJ Ryan as well, but he had that stretch of shaky outings.. still an outside chance though... So here is my top 3:

1.) Doc
2.) Ryan
3.) Marcum (he's been alright this season)

Halladay's losses are a canard...he'll make the ASG because he has been one of the best pitchers in the AL, as usual. Prior to his injury, Marcum was more than 'alright' (W-L is a terrible measure of a pitcher): 2.65/1.00, a 3.1:1 K/BB ratio and 7.8 K/9 rate are terrific peripherals, and definitely All-Star worthy (though he probably would have gotten overlooked because of the 5-4 record). Ryan certainly won't make it, though; he has been solid, but he hasn't pitched enough to really merit consideration.

I totally agree that W-L is a crappy way to judge a player. Too bad too many journalists and media overrate it.

I'm sure Halladay will make it based on his reputation over the past few seasons, plus his "solid" season thus far. Not expecting anyone else though.

The Doc. I agree W-L is the worst measure to look at a pitcher. Halladay's one of the leaders in the AL with strikeouts and has a good ERA. I don't know why, but we just can't seem to win when Doc's on the mound.

Another reason Doc will make it: his absurd number of complete games compared to the rest of the league.

No one else really deserves it. Ryan could go, he's had a great comeback, and Marcum, but he's injured.

i think it's only going to be Roy.... we're a last place team, don't expect too much

IF Marcum was healthy I'd say he'd be in aswell.

speaking of asg representatives, how does everyone feel about having 1 member from every tem? I'm kinda split about it.. on the one hand, you have players who might not be deserving of a spot, and take up a roster space of a more deserving player..

on the other, we might see the entire AL roster comprised of Red Sox and Yankee players

Wow..... I never knew there were 32 players on each roster, that's WAYYYYY too much IMO... This is what happens when you sub out a player, and can't sub them in... It'd be much better if they kept a regular 25 man roster, but I understand that it's not possible.... it just kind of ruins it, and makes it less "special".

There are 12 pitchers on each roster.... that's way too much

BJ Ryan?!? I can name 7 AL closers that are most deserving than BJ.

If Marcum was healthy right now, I think that he had a strong chance to get selected. 4th in the league in ERA and opponents are hitting .198 against him which is tied for the league lead. And if he hadn't missed his last 4 starts he could have added to that 5 win total.
