Orioles @ Jays (MAKE A NYY THREAD RYU; WE'RE STREAKING!)

Well... here's the game thread. Toronto Blue Jays (42-47) will host the weekend series against the Baltimore Orioles (44-43).
Tonight:
Daniel Cabrera (6-4, 4.34) vs. Dustin McGowan (6-7, 4.36).
What are everyone else's thoughts/feelings for the rest of the season? Have most given up? Clearly it's too early, but given how many teams are ahead, and the crapy offense, it's not looking good at all
edit: Man, I had a couple of images up, but they won't show on this new layout

I have given up. If the Jays don't finish at .500 by the All Star break, I say blow this team up and pray that JP is gone at the end of the season.

It's pretty sad that teams have this "given up" mentality such early in the season... I know these aren't realistic possibilities, but if they can at least expand the number of teams in the playoffs, then we wouldn't have like 10 teams by the All-Star break have no hope..

How is it early? I keep hearing, "well, they'll pull it together as they go along, and teams like Boston will fall down to earth", and this somehow remains the hope that we will compete.
Notice the winners have this mentality where they either start off early and build their lead so when they fall back in the dog days, they have a bit of room to rest some players, or the teams have this continuous chip-at-it mentality, where they grind.
Our bats do neither, and are letting our pitchers down. We can't expect them to make a run late in the season after falling 30 games back and say "well, now they'll turn it on". That's foolish.
You build your lead early, and hope the others get scared enough to continuously put enough pressure on their players to tire them out by mid-season or late in the season, and cause them to fall back from fatigue, while you rest your best players when allowed, and make a final push to separate during September.

It's "early" in a sense thatl considering Colorado made that amazing run last season, and the Mets had that complete melt down, technically, "anything can happen", and that's the mentality that JP has (unless he was BS'ing when he said that).

A comeback win? Weird. Not the prettiest winning run ever scored, but I'll take it.
And while Luke Scott was actually safe, that was one heck of a bare-handed play by Scutaro on that chopper in the 8th...not often that you see a guy bare-hand a ball while already striding into the throw.

I'll take the win. But we left too many RISP without success.. we even had the bases loaded twice and couldn't get a single run out of it.. atleast we used one bases loaded situation to our advantage..

What's the status on McGowan? I didn't watch the game tonight. Just saw the news on TSN.

Dustin McGowan is scheduled to undergo a magnetic resonance imaging examination (MRI) Wednesday morning after being lifted from his start Tuesday night following the fourth inning.

McGowan has a tear in his rotator cuff, and was placed on the 15 day DL. He might need surgery. Not good.

I didn't see your post before making a thread about it. They say he'll be out for at least a month...
This sucks!

We didn't hit a HR this entire series, were losing late in games 1&3, looked poised to blow a huge lead in game 2, yet somehow come away with a sweep. This small glimmer of hope will immediately be followed up by us getting swept by the Yanks. I refuse to be optimistic about this team ever again.

I do'nt know what I want this team to do anymore.... as a fan, I never want to root for my team to lose, but now I just want to get the season over with, get a good draft pick, and move on

This team has no hope in fantasy either. I just finished Frahchise mode with the Jays, and upped them to the best team in the league. We ended up tied with the Bosox at 90-72 to end the season tied for the wildcard and didn't make the playoffs.
Ohwell, there's always next year!

what a gem of an outing by Doc!
He's the only Blue Jay I'd hate to see leave the orgnization.. I might not even watch the blue jays if Doc leaves.. I love the guy! Too bad he hasn't had the batting to help him out..
