versus

Three game series on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. To be played in Tropicana Field

Kicking off post-All Star break, the Jays are looking to continue their streak of winning 6/7.. The Rays, on the other hand, are in the process of suffering their worst winning streak of the season, unexpectedly losing their final 7 games prior to the break. The Jays hope to pounce on the slumping Rays, hoping this break did not regroup them

.
To kick the series off, the Jays are throwing fireballer AJ Burnett (10-8, 4.96) against James Shields (7-5, 3.83).
Which AJ will turn up?? Let's hope it's the one that showed up outing.

I predict we take 2 out of 3 from the Rays in this series.

Heh, Alex Rios in a nutshell:
- lope back too casually on a deep fly ball.
- recover to make an excellent catch just as you hit the wall.
- forget how many outs there are, letting the runner tag up.
- make a strong throw to the cut-off guy to prevent the runner from scoring on a fly ball...from second.
Net effect: none.

If you can't hit and can't score, you can only do one thing.....lose.

tough loss..... i knew we weren't gonna hold the Rays to 0 runs, they were eventually gonna come through.. it's too bad we couldn't help out AJ for this one

didn'twe have a crapy lineup against the Yanks on the final game? And we managed to win that game, so who knows...
Wow, Rolen all the way at 7th in the order!

Rolen has been struggling. He hit the ball hard last night, but couldn't get a break. Only bright spot so far has been Lind. I was hard on him earlier this year, but he has suprised me this year so far. Overbay seems to be hitting better. Barajas and Stairs are struggling as well. Scutaro sucks! So pissed off we couldn't get the runner in from 3rd in the 8th inning. Scutaro watches 2 strikes go by him, and then grounds out. Why is he batting 2nd??

The reason we beat the Yankess was because of the pitching.
It's all about consistency.. and this lineup won't get you that.

Well, Lind now sports a .339/.364/.645 line in 67 plate appearances since returning, and despite those 20 PAs of suckitude at the beginning of the year, he now sports the best OPS+ on the team (SSSW)...which is pathetic, because he's only at 113. For the heck of it, the best-to-worst breakdown for those with 50 PAs or better:
- Lind: 113.
- Inglett: 111.
- Overbay: 110.
- Rolen: 110.
- Wells: 107.
- Barajas: 103.
Those are the only six players performing above league average...and then there's the rest:
- Stairs: 99.
- Rios: 97.
- Zaun: 97.
- Scrappy: 92.
...massive drop-off time!
- Hill: 85.
- Scooter: 82.
- Wilkerson: 75.
- Mensch: 74.
- Thomas: 72.
- Stewart: 71.
- Ol' McDonald: 20.

i'm here! was on holiday in England for the past three weeks and just got back yesterday. Didn't bother keeping track of the Jays but was surprised that they made it close to .500.

The other Jays have shown up today. 9-4 in the 7th inning now. Rios with a big game. 3-4 with a HR.
