Game Thread: Blue Jays @ Orioles

Post#1 » by evilRyu » Mon Jul 21, 2008 11:17 pm

Image vs. Image

4 games: Monday July 21, Tuesday July 22, Wednesday July 23, Thursday July 24.

Just creating a game thread so all discussions can be at one place... doubt anyone will take the effort to make one for this team anymore ;)

Anyways, 4-game series against the O's..... I would've said this series is big if we had taken care of business against the Rays. The only way our season becomes relevant again is if we take all 4 games, but that's not likely at all.

Game 1
Jesse Litsch: (8-6, 4.16)
Image

Radhames Liz: (3-2, 7.57)

I said in the last game thread the Jays would win 2 out of 3 and the reversed happened. So now I'm going to predict the Jays lose 3 out of 4 to Baltimore. (Watch them win the series.. lol.)

The Jays' new motto should be "anything is possible". Like putting 13 guys on base through six innings and squeezing out just three runs. Or having an offense whose run totals are well below what you would expect from its (bad, but not that awful) OPS+, still putting up a +25 run differential thanks to the pitching, and still failing to break .500.

This season is just too damn painful to watch. I mean we've had some bad times for all Toronto teams in the past 10 years or so, but there's just something really frustrating about this Jays team.

i hate the jays. As mentioned and in a pretty obvious statement, they are just way to incredably painful to watch. Everytime they have a good opportunity you know... they aren't going to score, and if they do it's because somebody booted a ball or made a throwing error or something. This team is so mind numinginly frustrating... ahhhhhhh, i hate this team

tis a funny thing though, in many ways, i actually enjoy them losing. Like it drives me nuts but at the same time you can't help but laugh and shake your head. Battiling with the O's for last place and secretly, i'd love to see us finish in last. I mean it'd be painful, but it'd be great to try and see JP justify that, and hopefully that would wake up the powers that be and this team in general and they actually get a real sense of urgency into there game, they actually take some pride in there performances etc etc. This season was supposed to be another step forward, not 2 or even 3 steps backwards... unbelieveable man, tis just crazy man

Tonight's game should be pretty interesting, the return of Marcum. He'll be limited to 65-70 pitches. Marcum has had success this season against the O's, allowing only 3 runs in 13 innings of work.

Good start for the Jays! Already down 2-0 after one inning of play.. I see a long night in the horizon.

Wow. Lind has been the best hitter on the team over the last month, and it's not even close...his OPS since being recalled is over 1.000, his AB/HR is the best on the team; it would project out to 30+ over the course of 600 ABs, though he ain't a 30 HR hitter. Thank god for Lind and some of the farm kids, or this would be one of the most depressing years since the mid-90s.
