Let's hope for the best. I'd like to see McGowan come back strong next spring.

well hopefully Purcey can be great for us, and fill the void... if yesterday's performance was any indication, we'll be alright hopefully.

He was one guy I really enjoyed watching grow. Breakout year 09!

lets hope so.. i remember an espn article (I think it was ESPN) who made the bold claim that McG would replace Doc as the ace of our staff by season's end..

A bold prediction as you say, but he does have the most upside of any of our young pitchers. The one reassuring thing is that McG does have a history of coming back from surgery- so hopefully he can be back in 09 and continue to improve.

it's definitely one of those "home run" predictions, where if he was right, he'd be making a whole bunch of "i told you so's" to his cubicle-mates.. but if he was wrong, no one would remember/care

Hopefully he will return to form when he's fully recouped from the surgery next season. If we do lose AJ in the off season (which we probably will) then its all that more important that he steps up as the #2.
