Game Thread: Rays @ Blue Jays

Due to the inability of posting images on posts, I'm gonna have to make bland game threads (ie, minimal images)... sorry fellas!!!

Anyways, a pretty big 3-game series against the division leading Tampa Bay Rays from Monday July 28 - Wednesday July 30.

Game 1 will feature:
AJ Burnett (11-9; 4.73) vs. James Shields (9-6; 3.66)

The Jays are 8.5 and 7.5 games behind the East and Wild Card respectively. But to get the Wild Card, they'll have to leap over 6 teams, including the Sox and Yanks.... sooooooo yeah, not saying anything new here, our season is pretty much done

Could this be AJ's last game as a Blue Jay?

K a part of me says I want this team to make a run, until we are officially eliminated. The other part says unload some of these players to get some prospects in return..

I don't know what I want guys! LOL.

if strictly faced between those two choices alone, then i'd definitely go with trading players and receiving prospects. to try and make a run, we have to leap frog over 6 teams just to make the wild card.. that's not happening.. might as well stockpile on young talent and go from there.

If we end up sweeping the Devil Rays, will it change your mind?

A sweep of the Rays and we'd be 5.5 games back. :D

Tonight we have our ace going against the Rays... it's a 7pm start, and let's hope for another win!

Roy Halladay (12-7; 2.82)
Image

Matt Garza (8-6; 3.83)

Halladay lost his last start against the Rays recently, so hopefully he'll bounce back with a gem tonight.

Seeing Halladay on the mound is such a reassuring sight.. The guy is my favorite ball player and no one comes even a close second..

Imagine if the team was able to support and score more runs for him, he would have 15+ wins by now.

He's having one of his best seasons. no doubt.

Halladay is probably the best player in the Majors who hasn't been in the postseason yet. Sad, and I feel very bad about it for him... he's been pretty loyal to the Jays, just sucks that we haven't been able to put out a good product to support him.

But I comletely agree Duncanfan, sometimes we take for granted that Halladay is slotted there #1 on the rotation.. but I definitely try not to, he's definitely the man

NY and Boston are down at the moment. They have to pull this one off.

K didn't watch the inside the park HR by Eric Hinske?? Eric Hinkse!?!? You got to be kidding me.

What happened?

Edit. Never mind just saw the highlight. What were Rios and Inglett doing out there?? Why did it take so long to get the ball back in. Halladay looked pissed and deservingly so.

upon replay, the ball clearly hit the cement facing, and it was very hard to see from the umpire's perspective, thus he didn't signal it as a home run (which it should have been)...

Now i wonder if this will count as an inside-the-parker, even though it clearly was a home run.. will they change the ruling afterwards?

Rios at times looks like he isn't hustling out there, and It pisses me off!

Even so, the outfielders or infielder backing up the play should have thrown the ball and prevented Hinske from scoring. He was rounding the bases for crying out loud! Didn't they see that? The boxscore states it was an inside the park HR. Eric Hinske with an inside the park HR!! Now I've seen it all!

It's okay Halladay. Your the MVP of the team this year. No one else comes close. I hope you get your chance to play for a contender one day.

Btw, that Longoria kid is the real deal. All Star in the making folks!

I hate this team. This offense is so pathetic and feeble. WTF man, I'm so sick of watching double plays and 0 runs scored. At the same time, I love watching them suck because it just makes me laugh. You can't help but laugh at the patheticness of this pathetic pathetic team. pathetic
