I'm a bit indifferent at the moment about this news. As long as it is not indicative of JP's future then i'm ok with it.

War does not determine who is right, only who is left.

i really don't think this news has anything to do with JP's tenure... in other words, there's still a good chance he's getting canned :)

JP is a lame duck. Good move, if anything, the new GM can bring his own guy (JP staying is not an option in my reality).
"I definitely knew he traveled, but I didn't know they were going to call it. That was one of them situations in which a great player made a move...and they called the call. And I was like, 'Oh, man, there is a God.'

I'm with everyone else. Cito has handled the team very well (with the exception of his love of batting two powerless players 1-2 in the order), so I'm happy to have him back...and he'll make a great year-long stabilizer so that JP's replacement can spend the off-season remodeling the team, rather than chasing his dream coach.

I'm glad Cito is staying, reminds me of great days gone by

Jays are like 5 or 6 games above 500 since he took over, I just don't want them to win to much so that Rogers will consider keeping JP.

I understand what your saying but I don't see Godfrey as a person who accepts mediocrity, and being a couple games above 500 is mediocrity, especially in this division.

Ricciardi can still go.

Hope Cito stays though.

Keep forgetting that there is a baseball section to RealGM, damnit...

Glad Cito's staying on. The difference with him versus without him is tangible and we've needed a good manager for years now. His presence is impactful, especially on this group.

It's good news. Not world-altering, but definitely good news.

J.P. gets to come back next year too. I refuse to be optimistic about next year. 93 wins, 3rd place finish, no playoffs is my predicition. Based on the last 6 years I've been watching, why should I expect anything other than slightly above average baseball from this team.

wow, more JP.

I'm getting tired of him. He got here, .500 tea, 7 years later, payroll is doubled, a 4th place .500 team.

I don't see the point of keeping him, and continuing to run around in circles...

Ugh. Canadian teams have a hard times firing guys when it matters. Come to think of it, this is a pretty common Canadian trait. For example, I still don't know how Bob Kinnear still holds his job, but I digress...
