OT: A's Thomas done for the year..

Post#1 » by Banger_bro » Fri Sep 5, 2008 4:12 pm

Since there was some controversy about him being released by JP, I thought this deserved a bit of discussion:

Thomas done for season

Is his career done?

He finished the season .240/.349/.374...the worst slugging percentage of his career by nearly 100 points (discounting that one season where he barely played). Sad to say, but I think he's just about cooked.

i guess he would be kind of like the race horse being put out to pasture,,once fast, strong and powerful, now he still wants to race but just can't,,,come to think of it that is that actually just like me now when i go to play baseball, or hockey nothing seems to work like it should.. lol

typical HOF type of player who is just hanging by a thread. we've seen these types of players in all sports.

You never know with power hitters. The only thing that is expected from a guy like him at this stage of his career is to hit the ball deep, and drive in runs. He still has the power, but his mechanics and bat speed have been terrible this season. All it takes is a little tweak and he could squeeze out another season. Just look at how Delgado has turned his fortunes around this season.

Thomas's entire decade has been up and down. I suspect this is it, but he has come back before.
