Last week's results -- a .414 average (12-for-29) with three doubles, two triples, three home runs and eight RBIs -- earned Rios the Bank of America Presents the American League Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 7.

Remarkably, Rios' slash stats may end up pretty close to 2007, though with lower counting stats. Prior to tonight (which will obviously improve his numbers) Rios was hitting .376/.406/.723 in his last 23 games, with 21 of his 38 hits going for extra bases, which is quite the power binge.

Also, that's the worst corporate award sponsorship outside of college football's bowl system. What a monstrosity.

Well it can't be worse than this dude winning the Championship Powerade Player of the Month in the Coca-Cola Championship League.

Since he was half asleep for most of the season, maybe now he has the extra energy to play like a madman, hopefully helping the Jays to a wildcard berth.
