Wow, didn't expect this at all! Paul Beeston is back with the Jays, although on an interim basis only... what is going on with the retro-Jays? This is great news, and want to see what kind of magic Beeston can do in the few months(?) that he'll be here.

The Toronto Blue Jays welcomed back a familiar face on Tuesday, appointing Paul Beeston as chief executive officer of the club on an interim basis.

The team says Beeston will assume responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the baseball club and Rogers Centre effective immediately.

''I have a great deal of respect for the Rogers organization and when I was asked to step in, I couldn't say no,'' Beeston said. ''I look forward to this assignment, even though it's short term.''

Wow so they are really going through with this retro thing. I think he was on prime time sports yesterday and I didn't hear to clearly, but i think he said something like Gillick probably wouldn't want to return here (maybe someone else heard it all). He'll probably end up sticking around for a while like how Cliff Fletcher is with the leafs.
