Met Zaunie today

Post#1 » by spykelee » Sat Oct 25, 2008 10:28 pm

Well if the title wasn't specific enough, I was chatting up old zaunie a bit today...

Asked him if he had tampa for the series, he says he's not sure, it's a tough one to call. Thinks Jaime Moyer is going to have a good game tonight

Asked him if he thinks AJ is coming back and he steadfastly said not a chance in hell. There's way too much money on the market for pitching, there's no way he'll stick around, zaun said he sure wouldn't if it was him.

We talked about the jays a bit. He says he thinks there going to be a .500 team next year. The pitching staff is going to be in trouble, with marcum gone for the year and everyone assuming mcgowan is going to come back and be atleast as good as he was prior to the injury, which there isn't any gurantee of, but past that there's just no depth.

We talked about the offense a bit. He said John Gibbons was messing around with the lineup too much last season, that Rios had a terriable year but yet he got to bat 3rd all year and Vernon was 4th and those where the only 2 guys who got to maintain there positions. He thought that was the reason for the offensive sturggles.

But I said isn't there something to be said for changing something that isn't working to begin with. I said the offense was so brtual from game 1 right on through, so in some regards, didn't he think there was some merit to changing the lineup.

He said that there is, but that it was too soon. That guys should be given a month to get in a groove. Not knowing if you where playing, or where you where hitting really impacted guys in zaun's opinion. But anyways, yea overal he thinks the jays are going to stink next year and will be lucky to be even a few games over .500

Anyways, he was very candid and polite which was nice. Though I am not a zaunie fan, I appreciated the honesty.

Whoa, thanks for the response...

Was a zaun fan, but this season he kinda turned me off... I don't even think he'll be back next season as well...

But very interesting how he was so candid about AJ not returning, and being honest with all the lineup changes... these aren't things you hear when they're in front of a camera, so refreshing...

i hope this fool doesn't come back next year, i can't think of a single thing that where he actually contributes. He can't throw, he can't hit and most of all he's been horrible calling the games. Other than a couple of clutch hits, he's been a big pile of garbage this year

Perfect,

I'd rather listen to a single idiot as opposed to two of them together.

Yea. He's garbage on the field, and on TV.
