Blue Jays claim Jimenez, Sanchez, Walrond off waivers

The Blue Jays claimed left-hander Les Walrond off waivers from the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old Walrond went 1-1 with a 6.10 ERA in six games with Philadelphia last season. Drafted by St. Louis in 1998, Walrond reached the majors with Kansas City in 2003 and pitched for the Chicago Cubs in 2006. He has a career record of 1-4 with a 7.07 ERA in 23 games.

TORONTO (AP)—The Toronto Blue Jays made a pair of waiver claims Tuesday, getting pitcher Kelvin Jimenez from St. Louis and shortstop Angel Sanchez from Kansas City.

Jimenez, a 28-year-old righty, was 0-0 with a 5.63 ERA in 15 games for the Cardinals last season. He is 3-0 lifetime with a 6.82 ERA in 49 games over two seasons.

Sanchez, 25, played eight games for Kansas City in 2006, batting .222 with one RBI. He spent last season in the minors.

what the hell is up with all these scrub signings? I know it's good to stock up and put then in the minors, but these guys don't even look like they have a bright future ahead.

These are one thoes maybe come spring training they all of a sudden shine and JP looks great if not.. Back on the waviers they will go if not the Minors. This is just for the sake of transactinos unless these guys are worth the paper they signed on.
