Classless Organization

Post#1 » by Duffman100 » Wed Dec 3, 2008 5:36 pm

It's sad that our beloved Toronto Blue Jays have become such a classless organization.

Laying people off 3 weeks before Christmas, treating leaving players like garbage, keeping slimey rats in the front office.

I look at this organization and cringe. What was once a proud, hard working, honourable franchise has become pathetic.

bah.

The boyfriend of a girl I used to work with was one of the sales people that got laid off. Apparently the sales team was a few 100k behind forecast last month which didn't help. Who the hell is buying Jays tickets right now anyways and what has the franchise done to stimulate buying interest in the public? Nothing.

Exactly. They fire the non baseball employees when clearly its the baseball employees who aren't getting the job done. A non playoff team can only generate so many fans and I'd say the sales team was probably doing fairly well considering.

They were all contract employees as well so none of them got any notice in lieu or package of any sort. Just walk you to the door and "see yah!". If thats not bad enough, add to it that all of this was on the same day Ted Rogers died.

I just don't see how they can improve on their position (baseball speaking) based on what they have to work with in the system, on the roster and in the front office. Not to mention the dollar has swung all over the place and spending will most likely be down, which is a built in excuse for why can't compete in the East, even though Tampa won the division...

If you look at the people responsible for the Red Sox dominating, how many of those are people you spent millions of dollars on?

Ellsbury, Pedrioa, their shortstop, a good chunk of their pitching staff are all guys they drafted and developed.

Same with Tampa Bay.

You need to spend money, but developing young talent from the minors is the MOST important aspect of being a baseball General Manager. J.P. doesn't do it. Fire him.

i haven't been keeping up with the team since the end of the season, so I wasn't aware of any lay-offs... but the reputation of this team needs to turn around in a hurry.
