Please JP lets rebuild. Now IS THE TIME

With the yankees signing 3 huge free agents. The time is now to get rid of payroll and go young.
Try to trade Ryan, Wells and Overbay. I would trade Doc too. Having him is just a waste of money and a waste of time for such a good pitcher. He deserves to have a chance to play for a ring!
MLB is pathetic, lets just allow 4 teams to buy everyone while the other teams keep trying to develop the players they buy later.

The more I see the Yanks with their spending spree, the more I agree. Even with Doc, I think it's time we trade him. We can get a lot of young amazing prospects in return. Trade Overbay, Ryan, and Wells and Rolen if possible. We have no chance at anything next season, or realistically the next decade.
It's time to rebuild, I concur.

Hasn't JP already had his turn at a rebuild? I mean, how many GM's get to come in, spend 7 or 8 years putting a team together (started by stripping it down), win nothing, then do it all over?
I'd like to think the message to JP is win now or get a bus back to Boston.
Personally, I think we should be bringing in someone new and rebuilding. That said, there's a lot of good young parts here that I wouldn't want to see go. You've got to keep Lind, Snyder, Hill, and Rios as the core of your everyday lineup. You've also got to keep Doc unless you know he's going to leave when he gets the chance. You just don't get pitchers like Doc, they come around every 20 yrs or so. I'd also keep most of the young pitching staff. So I guess my idea of a rebuild is more like a re-tool or re-allocation of funds. I'd like to see Rolen (who wouldn't), Overbay, and Wells moved to free up some salary (I think they make something to the tune of 30 million per season combined). They then need a legit bat at each of the corners, and a real starting catcher. That's all it'll take to make this team competitive!

yeah, Doc has to go.
it's not right for the worst team in the league to have the best pitcher in the league.

I agree with most of the people here..
If we get rid of Roy, Vernon, BJ and Rolen..
Surely we can get a few young studs and draft picks...
Im with everybody here..I love Roy Halladay...but if this team cant give him what he deserves..then its time to let him go and hopefully get a few young studs along the process

Ricciardi should not be allowed to trade Halladay. If this team is really going into serious rebuilding mode, then JP has to be fired so new GM can start the rebuilding process. Ricciardi has his shot to build the organization back up, and he couldn't do it.
With that said, we might be looking at a semi-rebuild in 2009 with the focus on competing in 2010. I am guessing we will see a ton of youth this coming season, with guys like Snider, Lind, Cecil, Arencibia, Purcey, Romero, Janssen, Mills, Campbell, etc, all getting serious looks and/or starting spots depending on injuries and other factors. I don't necessarily disagree with that because if Marcum and McGowan are back healthy by 2010, then all of a sudden the rotation becomes a strength again. I don't think Ricciardi is creative or patient enough to do anything to help this club, but I guess watching young players win 75-80 games on Roy Halladay's back is better than watching the Stewart/Mench/Wilkerson's on an 85-win team.
I do feel for Roy though.

Get rid of Roy and then see the fan support plummet by half.

the bastard never actually left Boston to go back...and that's part of the problem, the fans don't feel like he cares about the team (he probably doesn't)
it's time to fire JP Ricciardi's ass
