Where were you on that magical day in '93?

For long-time Jays fans, where were you and what were you doing on the night of October 23, 1993?

For me I was a little 6 year old at my cousins house with the living room packed to capacity. It was filled with relatives and friends all tuned in to a 30 something inch tv. All I can remember afterwards is hopping in a van and heading downtown with my dads, uncles, and cousins. I still have a copy of that game recorded on VHS, and I still watch it from time to time and even though I was barely old enough to remember intricate details about celebrating it still gives me chills.

Maybe some of our older fans can describe what they did during and after Joe Carter hit that infamous blast over the left field wall.

I was at my Aunt's 60th Bday party. I remember it vividly, as it remains the only time in my life I had sex in the snow (not with my aunt you pervs). It was terrific night all around. I didn't even mind the awkwardness of having to explain the dirt on the knees of my dresspants to family members at the party. I was 19 and in love. :)

I was on the couch at my buddies place in London (he was attending western) with a hottie and the game was on low volume in the background. I'm slightly ashamed to say i actually wasn't watching the game at this point, but when I heard the call I scrambled for my glasses and watched Joe run the bases. She wasn't upset about it, which was cool and after I watch them run onto the field and celebrate, i got back what was occupying my attention previously.

Later I could hear car horns in the neighbourhood and later on that night we joined the celebrations.

The year before I was on a date at Yuk Yuks. We made it back home in time to watch the last two innings and the eventual ground out with Timlin on the mound. Again, I was on the couch....

I was 10 back then and I remember I was watching the game with the rest of my family. Back then my parents had an interest in baseball as well, and now that I think of it, it feels weird remembering the days of watching tv together with the family. Anyway I don't remember much of the early part of the game, but I do remember when the Jays blew the lead. My brother was so upset and he was cursing Danny Cox for the rest of the night until the bottom of the ninth.

Then Joe came up and the rest is history. I remember having a big lump in my throat and getting goosebumps. Next thing i know i hear people in my building shouting and banging on their balconies, cars honking outside. It was a great feeling.

I was 11 watching in my basement with my brother. I remember saying 'Wouldn't it be funny if Joe Carter hit a homerun right now?' and then he did. I jumped so high I hit my head on the ceiling.

We then proceeded to bang pots outside of our house for 10 minutes. Oddly, there were like 50 people in our residential street in Mississauga doing the same thing and we were all chanting 'Blue Jays'.

Amazing Night.

I was 11 years old. My family and I all went over to my uncle's place to watch the game. It was the first and only time my family got together to watch anything other than hockey or the Olympics. I remember that during the commercial break, my uncle said: "it looks like we're going to see another game". I said: "No, they're going to find a way to get guys on base and Joe carter's going to hit a home run to win the game". I'd love to claim I was clairvoyant but, in reality, Joe Carter was my favorite player and I always thought he'd come up to hit a homer. It was still a great talking point when we saw the ball go over the fence (ie, "How did you know that?", "Do you want to come with me to get some lottery tickets?")... I actually teared up a little bit when Joe Carter was hopping around the base pads, which I've regretted ever since. My family still teases me about it but, I don't really mind. At the time, I lived baseball and I loved the Blue Jays. I can honestly say, that day still ranks among the happiest days of my life.

I was 7 years old about to turn 8 in less than a month.

I was born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. Both my parents are from Corner Brook and nearly all of my relatives and family were from Newfoundland. We were in my mississauga basement. As newer'ish members of Ontario mostly everybody in my basement were wild Newfie baseball fans of the Blue Jays. There was a huge party which involved a lot of alcohol and people were drunk and rowdy. Even at the tender age of 7 I may have ingested some beverages considered illegal just for ****.

It was a memorable night that I won't forget, the Wild thing. At this point in my life I was already on like every rep t-ball team in my area. It was hysteria, but what a night of fun.
